𝟒𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐅𝐨𝐱 𝐑𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐩 𝐉𝐔𝐍𝐄 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 If you subscribe to BusinessDen, you’ll no doubt have read their two-part story, “Island Tripping,” on the constraints around the G & B Lines’ first stop outside of Downtown Denver. I recommend the story, but to summarize, the way the highways and freight rail cut this part of town off from the street grid concerns the city, vis-a-vis emergency services. There are currently two ways to drive into and out of the neighborhood: 44th Avenue across I-25; and the Fox Street, 38th Avenue, and Park Avenue intersection at the southern end of the “island.” Were a dense neighborhood to be built without new connective infrastructure, firefighters, police, and other first-responders worry they could not enter the neighborhood in their emergency vehicles to keep people and property safe. Emergency services could not abide that. Read more: https://lnkd.in/dSCihbjf #businessden #islandtripping #foxstreet #parkavenue

Traffic safety is a pressing issue worldwide, and Jacksonville, Florida, is no exception. With some of the fastest roadways in the U.S. and a troubling record of pedestrian and bicycle fatalities, the city needed bold action to protect its residents. That’s where the 20 is Plenty Speed Reduction Study comes in. Partnering with the City of Jacksonville, we helped design a comprehensive plan to reduce speed limits, enhance roadway safety, and foster community engagement. This initiative not only lowers speed limits but also integrates roadway upgrades, public awareness campaigns, and Vision Zero strategies to create safer, more vibrant neighborhoods. The study, which earned the 2024 Award of Excellence for Innovation in Planning for All Ages from Florida Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA Florida), is a testament to the power of grassroots advocacy and innovative urban planning. Learn more from Rebecca Dennis, AICP, about how 20 is Plenty is setting a new standard for safety and sustainability in our latest blog: https://lnkd.in/eV4NbYRH #TrafficSafety #UrbanPlanning #SustainableCommunities #EngineeringaBetterFuture

When we spot kids zipping around our neighborhoods, it's a playful reminder that they're not just adorable little users of today's roads and sidewalks – they're the future bosses of roadway assets - inheriting what we build and maintain today. When it's time to doll up our urban digs, let's chuck the "fix-it-when-it-breaks" mentality out the window. Let's embrace a grander vision, fueled by the desire to gift our kiddos a world that's a few notches better than the one we inherited. Because, after all, they're the ones who'll be taking the reins. Let's band together to construct and care for an infrastructure that doesn't just make our lives easier today but also throws a high-five to future generations. Here's to building a community that shines bright for the tykes of today and the leaders of tomorrow. 🌟 #Infrastructure #Maintenance #CommunityDevelopment #FutureGenerations #Sustainability #LegacyBuilding #LongTermVision #QualityInfrastructure #ChildrensFuture #CommunityWellbeing

A RICKENBACKER PLAN: A draft of a master plan for the Rickenbacker Causeway, the only link of Key Biscayne with the rest of Miami-Dade County, is to be presented in Key Biscayne’s Community Center on Dec. 4. The county’s Department of Transportation and Public Works and Village of Key Biscayne staff will deal with the village’s hot-button concern at 6 p.m. in the community center’s Lighthouse Room. Objectives, according to an announcement, are to improve traffic flow, reduce traffic congestion during Virginia Key events, separate bicycles from pedestrian traffic, and develop high-quality environmentally resilient facilities. The announcement does not mention repair or replacement of the Bear Cut Bridge. https://lnkd.in/eFUPNVXX #FYIMiami #MiamiTodayNews 3KeyBiscayne #RickenbackerCauseway
