🧐Is Vanuatu “𝒆𝒙𝒄𝒆𝒑𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍” in the eyes of the European Commission?👀 We got the hint from this presentation making the rounds through Pacific jurisdictions lately. Is it because we’re “exceptional” that we’ve been stranded for years on the EU’s money laundering blacklist even though the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) deemed our country compliant more than six years ago? Almost every other addition or removal from the FATF list has been reflected in lockstep, but not us! Which is strange because we don’t remember receiving an “autonomous assessment”🤷 How exactly does Vanuatu and its mighty $1.1b economy “threaten the EU’s financial system?”😳 We’d love to know more. Our curiosity is piqued! But as usual, we can bet nobody in Brussels will take the time to explain anything. They never do! This is all theatre for the European taxpayer. Brussels bureaucrats are pretending to deter dangerous criminals in tiny Pacific islands while their own member countries are not even subject to screening🤡 #aml #vanuatu

Okay, first up I don't think she is a Chinese SPY. As in a trained agent of the Chinese Security Apparatus. But: 1. Her background is suss, and probably faked to get her on the mayoral ballot 2. She is likely involved in some manner with the POGOS 3. She may or may not be involved with agents of the Chinese Security Forces (but depends on what you mean by involved) She left Luzon, north of PHP, made it to Sabah via sea (south of the PHP), flew to Singapore, took a ferry to Batam and .... made her way to Jakarta. She is wanted for ML but is probably a scam operations suspect (involved/running/related to). So this is interesting: the Chinese authorities would be interested in her case 1) because she is a Chinese citizen 2) if she is related to POGOS they want her knowledge and provide her jail time 3) if she is a spy they will want her to be a heroine (and maybe disappear after debrief [sorry, overdosing on Mark Greaney novels]) ALL AT THE SAME TIME. What is SUPERINTERESTING is how silent China is on this issue - that means they are treating this as a case of Philippines prosecuting a Filipino citizen; or they have a lot of vested conflicting interests (none strategic, she is not going to be the key to SCS)

𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐨𝐬 𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐚 𝐛𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐀: a complete ban on all POGO in the Philippines! 🤯 This major move comes after a long list of issues linked to POGO, from crime to tax evasion. Do you think this is the right decision for the country? Will it create more problems than it solves? Let's talk about it! I'm curious to hear your thoughts on this big policy change. #PolicyAnnouncement #POGOBan #BongbongMarcos #SONA2024 #PublicOpinion #PhilippinePolicy #CommunityDiscussion #TangereSurvey #BossMartin #Raffle #TeamWagi

🇹🇳 How can transparent and predictable border processes foster trade-led growth? 🔍 In Tunisia, we're supporting the introduction of an advance ruling mechanism that will allow traders to seek a binding legal opinion on how Customs will handle specific goods before shipping. By providing traders with greater transparency and predictability on clearance procedures, the new mechanism will boost confidence in the private sector. Ultimately, by creating more efficient processes, the system will: · cut processing time and costs · increase trust between the public and private sector · boost overall trade competitiveness The Alliance initiative in Tunisia is set for completion in 2024, marking a significant milestone in the country's journey towards creating a more attractive trading environment. Stay tuned for updates on our progress! #TunisiaTrade #TradeFacilitation #TradeRegulations

On 18 April 2024, the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) handed down its judgment in Citadeles nekustamie īpašumi SIA v Valsts ieņēmumu dienests at the request of the District Court of Latvia. In the judgement, the CJEU assessed whether the concept of “company service provider” in the Anti-Money Laundering Directive (AMLD) should be interpreted as referring to a discrete service which does not arise from a transaction involving the letting of self-owned real estate and is not linked to such a transaction. In the article below, Charlotte Evenepoel, Pierre Berger, Jasna Zwitter-Tehovnik, Anže Molan, Natalia Lopez Condado, Elena Vadolas and Melvin Tjon Akon review the CJEU's assessment and its implications. This includes an overview of the key changes and how the judgement impacts national legislations in Belgium, Austria, Spain and Germany.
