My experience at the Africa IGF 2024! From November 20 to 22, 2024, I had the incredible opportunity to attend the Africa Internet Governance Forum (Africa IGF) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, as a Multi-Advisory Group (MAG) Member and part of the Organizing Committee. This event was a hub of innovation, collaboration, and impactful discussions on shaping the future of Internet governance across the continent. As a member of the organizing team, I contributed to planning and shaping sessions that addressed critical topics such as digital inclusion, data privacy, and the future of digital infrastructure in Africa. It was immensely rewarding to witness the fruitful exchanges among internet users, policymakers, industry leaders, government and grassroots advocates, all working towards a common goal: an open, inclusive, and resilient Internet for Africa. An interesting part of the forum was reconnecting with my fellow Youth IGF Program alumni and meeting Tori Irvine , the inspiring Fellowship Manager. Our conversations reinforced the importance of nurturing young voices and diverse perspectives in the Internet governance ecosystem. some of my key takeaways from the Africa IGF 2024 are : - the importance of multi-stakeholder approaches to address emerging challenges and opportunities in the digital space. -The need to amplify youth contributions in shaping inclusive digital policies that reflect Africa's dynamic and growing digital economy. - A renewed commitment to bridging the digital divide through innovative policies and partnerships. Being part of such a prestigious forum has deepened my commitment to advocating for digital inclusion and sustainable Internet policies. I also would like to thank all participants, sponsors , African Union and the UNECA particularly Sorene Assefa ( CISSP® CISM ISO ITIL COBIT PRINCE2) for her collaboration Together, we are paving the way for a digitally empowered Africa.
