Happy Patient Experience Week to ALL healthcare workers and staff! My favorite healthcare patient experience resource is The Beryl Institute. If you are not familiar- they are essentially the gold standard of patient experience across the world. Beryl Institute does a great job of highlighting that the patients experience throughout the continuum of care does not solely rest on the shoulders of the nurses and clinicians. Think about it: Patients often see 1-10+ hospital/healthcare employees before even getting a billable medical moment. Before a nurse or doctor even says a word to a patient, their perception of care can be diminished beyond repair. This is why it is so important to highlight the attached poster from Beryl Institute for the week. "We are ALL the patient experience". A comprehensive education for clinicians, nurses and all staff is just the tip of the ice burg in delivering holistic comprehensive care. A challenge I propose for health system leadership who have made it this far in my post: Healthcare employees likely did not get into their professions because they wanted to have the best patient experience scores or quality metrics. Healthcare professionals do what they do every day because they found a calling in helping others, but it is so hard to fill from an empty cup. Are we providing the right environment for all of our staff to deliver the care our patients expect?

My Favorite Slide of the Week: As a hospitalized patient, we are at our most vulnerable—sick, scared, sleep-deprived, and overwhelmed by the complexity of modern healthcare. One powerful way to make care more compassionate is by freeing up our nurses from administrative burdens, allowing them more time at the bedside. When organizations empower nurses to round hourly with patients, giving them the chance to connect, support, and anticipate needs, the feedback is overwhelmingly positive. Patients thrive when nurses have the time to focus on them. Achieving this for every patient, every nurse, every time requires consistent execution and can be supported by technology. However, while process reliability and tech are crucial, the real benefits go to the patients and the healthcare professionals caring for them. No matter how advanced technology gets, healthcare at its core is a human endeavor. Hardwiring behaviors that enable those in need to connect with those who can help builds the social capital that makes our industry flourish. And who wouldn't want that? Did you Know: On average, nurses spend about 2.4 hours per day performing non-value-added tasks trying to search for patient information, trying to locate the right provider on call, or trying to coordinate care team communication. Here’s a quick breakdown: 🚨18 minutes spent responding to non-actionable alerts 🚶25 minutes walking to patient rooms to gather information 📞42 minutes tracking down providers via phone tag and pages 🕒60 minutes coordinating care team communication These are direct manifestations of Collaboration Waste and take time and resources away from patient care. With a streamlined CC&C platform, TigerConnect eliminates many of these tasks, giving nurses back 145 minutes per day to focus on what matters most—patient care. Check out the infographic below for a detailed view of how time can be saved. https://buff.ly/3GPw2tx

During the recent American Association of Nurse Practitioners Conference in Nashville, many nurse practitioners who visited the Smart Meter booth were surprised to learn about the potential for increased revenue by using their NPI number to bill the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for remote physiological monitoring or what is commonly referred to as remote patient monitoring (RPM). According to the most recent stats compiled in 2022, more than 1,600 claims were filed by nurse practitioners. Not only do Smart Meter's cellular RPM™ solutions provide a new revenue stream but are proven to improve patient outcomes. Our cellular RPM devices are easy for patients to use because once they test, the result is automatically sent with no synching, pairing, WiFi or hub required. And the valuable health data is sent directly into our RPM/CCM software partner's system or an electronic health record system.
