The article "Research Integrity in Guidelines and evIDence synthesis (RIGID)" by Aya Mousa et al. introduces the RIGID framework, developed to address the lack of processes for incorporating integrity assessments in evidence-based guideline development. This framework consists of six steps: review, exclude, assess, discuss, establish contact, and reassess. It ensures that only reliable and trustworthy studies inform clinical guidelines, thus protecting patient care and maintaining scientific credibility. https://lnkd.in/gJfZwN2C #ResearchIntegrity #EvidenceBasedMedicine #ClinicalGuidelines

For patients and non-specialists, understanding AFib and its treatments can be complex. StoryMine's video for the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM Group) aims to break down AFib clearly and efficiently, showcasing advancements in medical knowledge. We sought clear explanations of AFib diagnosis and treatment, highlighting the evolution of medical understanding from past uncertainties to current treatments. Utilizing historical context as a storytelling tool, we engaged viewers by illustrating progress and discovery in the field. We created two versions of the video: one tailored for patients and families, showcasing the journey of medical advancement in AFib management, including insights on anti-arrhythmic medications and catheter ablation procedures. The second video was designed for a primary care audience, incorporating more instructional elements. #Healthcare #AFib #medicalvideostories https://lnkd.in/exYgj8FC

💫 We are delighted to announce the recent publication of the paper titled "Potential Drug-Drug Interactions in Hospitalized Patients," authored by Prof. Afrim Tabaku (Chief Member of GREEN, IAS, and AIREC) and collaborators. This important study has been published in the International Journal of Biomed Insights (IJBMI). The research provides an in-depth analysis of potential drug-drug interactions (DDIs) among hospitalized patients, identifying key factors that contribute to interaction risks and their clinical implications. By examining a diverse patient population, the study offers valuable insights into the frequency, severity, and types of interactions that can occur within a hospital setting. These findings are essential for healthcare professionals aiming to enhance patient safety, optimize therapeutic outcomes, and minimize adverse effects linked to polypharmacy. Kudos to National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) for organizing an exciting #rarediseaseday2024 that featured many inspiring stories from patients, researchers, and clinicians. Our founder, Dr. Anne Chiaramello, Deputy Clinical Director Dr. Andrea Gropman and Deputy Scientific Director Dr. Martine Uittenbogaard attended; and all three walked away with real information that will be useful in NCATS funded clinical trial for two rare mitochondrial diseases. We will be sharing more insights soon, including a fascinating pictorial of the convoluted, and often frustrating, rare disease patient journey, presented by Dr. Kimberly Moran, PhD, MBA. Dr. Dominique Pichard's talk on #NCATS mission encapsulated the progress thus far accomplished for rare diseases by creating a seamless interface among patient advocacy groups, researchers, and clinicians to improve diagnosis and augmenting the number of treatments in the #drugdevelopment. What an inspirational day at The National Institutes of Health! Many thanks to Dr. Joni L Rutter, Director of #NCATS, and Dr. Monica Bertagnolli, #NIH Director, for shining the light on patients living with a #raredisease and their commitment to find a cure for #rarediseases. #rarediseaseawareness #mitochondrialdisease #lhonplus #melas #clinicaltrials #personalizedmedicine
