What is a pathological wound Biofilm and why can this delay healing?
Understanding biofilm formation is critical for effective wound care. Biofilm plays a significant role in chronic wound infections and delayed healing. Why is this important for wound care? 🔎 1. Chronic Infections: Biofilm protects bacteria from antibiotics and the immune system, making infections persistent and hard to treat. 2. Delayed Healing: The presence of biofilm in wounds can significantly delay the healing process, causing prolonged recovery times for patients. 3. Targeted Treatment: Knowledge of biofilm formation is essential for developing effective treatments that can disrupt these structures and promote better healing outcomes. Have you encountered biofilm-related challenges in your practise? Talk to the team about how DEBRICHEM can help eliminate biofilm and assist debridement 👉 https://lnkd.in/gXQFt7Ec #DiabeticFootUlcers #VenousLegUlcer #PressureUlcer #ChronicWounds #WoundInfection #LegUlcer #HighRiskFoot #Biofilm #WoundDebridement #WoundCare

World Sepsis Day - Sepsis Prevention: Save Lives, Stop Suffering Sepsis is a life-threatening complication of an infection and arises when the body’s response to an infection injures its own tissues and organs. Sepsis can lead to shock, multi-organ failure and even death, especially if not recognised early and treated promptly. Let’s create awareness about Sepsis and support the patients suffering with it. Last Friday, the 13th of September, was World Sepsis Day. Established in 2012 by the Global Sepsis Alliance, the campaign encourages everyone to unite to combat sepsis, a life-threatening condition caused by the body’s reaction to infection. Read the poster below for some interesting facts about the condition. Sepsis is usually treated with broad-spectrum intravenous antibiotics, in an attempt to combat the infection. However, it is sometimes too late and the reaction to the infection could cause irreversible damage and even death, before the antibiotics can begin to take effect. Also, anti-microbial resistance (AMR) can lead to reduced efficacy of the antibiotics, causing a delay while the right treatment is established and worsening the risk of a negative outcome. Read the blog on our website covering one of the latest ideas in the fight against AMR: https://lnkd.in/ergPAQPB #Pharmora #WorldSepsisDay #SepsisAwareness #2030GlobalSepsisAgenda #Sepsis #StopSepsis #SaveLives
