Food for Thought: Can Investors and Food Sovereignty Coexist? * Investor Interest and Concerns: Investments flow towards African agriculture, but Million Belay worries these may prioritize short-term gains over long-term sustainability. * Food Sovereignty vs. Food Security: Belay advocates for food sovereignty, focusing on local control, cultural appropriateness, and ownership of food systems. * Agroecology: More Than Just Farming: Agroecology is seen as a practice, science, and social movement with a crucial social and political dimension. * Concerns with Regenerative Agriculture: The regenerative agriculture movement, while positive, may lack the social and political aspects needed to resist co-optation. * Community Strength in a Changing Climate: Strong communities, enabled by agroecology's social focus, are crucial to face climate challenges. #FoodSovereignty #ClimateAction #SocialMediaMarketing #ContentCreation #EngagementTips #GrowYourBusiness #SocialMediaManagement #SocialMediaPro #SocialMediaMadeEasy #BeSocial #ContentCalendarHero #MarketingStrategy #SocialMediaGoals #SocialMediaManager #CommunityManagement #BrandAwareness #SocialMediaServices Source: https://lnkd.in/gSWAFpBh

Covid has underscored the importance of self-reliance in food production. Relying solely on external sources may not suffice in future crises. While achieving 30% local production for food security remains challenging, it is crucial amidst the current realities. Balancing cost-effectiveness with local production presents difficulties due to operational expenses and limited economies of scale in farming. There is no simple solution, but innovative approaches are essential to support our farmers sustainably. While investing in overseas farms can enhance the food supply chain, it cannot replace local agriculture. One potential strategy involves governmental intervention to bridge price disparities, especially through sustained demand from major local entities like Supermarket Chains,Military Camps and Sats etc with Cold storage facilities to create buffer. Addressing the struggles of farmers is imperative to ensure a profitable and sustainable agricultural sector. Existing farm policies have proven ineffective, leading to losses for investors in shuttered farms. Collaborative efforts and strategic interventions are key to overcoming these challenges and bolstering food security. #FoodSecurity #Agriculture #Sustainability #Farmers #GovernmentIntervention
