#Agar (Aloewood or eaglewood) is next tea and oil for Assam if developed systematically. Assam's climate and the landscape of Assam are best suited for agar tree (scientific name is Aquilaria Malaccensis Lam). There is a high demand of agarwood of Assam in the global markets particularly, #MiddleEast because of its best quality #aroma. Besides, huge domestic market of #favors and #perfumes is also knocking the door. Global agarwood chip market is alone going to grow to USD 16.5 billion by 2034. Today we inaugurated the state’s first licensed manufacturing-cum-retail store for perfume and agar – #MJIPerfumes, the first #MAKE_IN_ASSAM perfume at Guwahati. "Assam Agarwood Promotion Policy 2020" supports the agar cultivation and its downstream industries from perfumes to critical chemical ingredients of medicines, etc. A great new window for #innovations and #startups. #startupindia#startupindia MyGov India Read more at: https://lnkd.in/d92f5Zk9

Makhana, also known as fox nuts, originates from the wetlands of Bihar and is revered for its nutritional value. Despite its popularity, the processing of makhana is extremely labor-intensive and delicate, making it a challenging task for those involved. Furthermore, the makhana sector remains highly unorganized, with limited large-scale infrastructure or standardized practices. Here’s what I found during my analysis (using the lowest possible values): 1️⃣ At the Guri/Lava Level: - Production: 25,000 MT (have taken the lowest possible value) at around ₹500/MT. - Market size: Roughly ₹1,200-1,300 crore. 2️⃣ Processed/Raw Makhana (India): - Domestic production: 10,000 MT (have taken the lowest possible value) at ₹800/MT. - Market size: ₹800 crore. 3️⃣ Processed/Raw Makhana (Exports): - Export volume: 15,000 MT (have taken the lowest possible value) at ₹1,200/MT. - Market size: ₹1,800 crore. 🌍 Total Market: Combining all levels, the makhana market is currently around ₹4,000 crore, with a CAGR of 15-18%. This sector is growing by approximately ₹1,000 crore every year! As makhana continues to rise in demand, both domestically and globally, it opens up significant opportunities for farmers, processors, and exporters. 💬 I’d love to hear your thoughts: - Where do you see the biggest growth opportunities in this sector? - How can we further boost India’s makhana exports and organize this sector better? Looking forward to your insights and ideas! #Makhana #AgricultureGrowth #BiharEconomy #SustainableAgriculture #GlobalMarkets #FoodIndustry #Entrepreneurship Anshuman Sinha Arvind Jha Abha Thakur Aditya Dalmia Manish Anand

This gap/opportunity getting visible everywhere and local production-consumption loops starting to form alone can create numerous positive outcomes for places and the communities there, for climate and for biodiversity. Add strengthened local ownership and stewardship to the mix and both adaptation in the short term and mitigation and better economic futures in the medium term are possible. How do we start to act at scale, at the unit of one, everywhere?

Reviving Local Economies in Rural India - Bioregional Centre of Excellence at Jagriti Enterprise Centre - Purvanchal Our recent discussions with 100+ households in Deoria district exposed a critical issue: the over-reliance on imported packaged essential goods. For instance, a whopping 73% of rural households claimed to buy packaged turmeric (Haldi) and 60% rely on mustard oil sourced and packaged from distant regions—both of which are daily staples in any rural household in Purvanchal. This trend is not just about convenience; it points to a deeper erosion of the rural economy. Local farmers and small-scale producers are losing out to mass-produced, far-flung products that are now also dominating rural markets. We went a step further and met top wholesalers and distributors in the supply chain to find that Deoria district alone, consumes approximately 80-100 Cr worth of mustard oil every month, from one particular brand that sources mustard from Rajasthan, makes the oil in Lucknow and sells it across UP and Bihar! Rethinking local production isn’t just a sustainable choice—it’s a necessary step toward securing the future of our rural economies. Do we really need Haldi and Mustard Oil coming from hundreds and thousands of miles away? If not, can we then create ecosystems for relocalising production of these household essentials? #Bioregionalism #LocalProduction #RuralEconomy #FoodSecurity #LocalResilience Anurag Dixit Ashutosh Kumar Anand Singh Rahul Kushwaha Manoj Tiwari Dhirendra Yadav Kiran Kashyap Vikas Hosoor Sameer Shisodia Ashish Kothari NITI Aayog Shashank Mani

Lal Bahadur Shastri: The Unsung Architect of India’s White Revolution👇 Often, when we speak of the White Revolution, Dr. Verghese Kurien takes center stage. But behind this monumental success there was also a leader whose quiet determination changed the course of India’s dairy industry forever - #Lal #Bahadur #Shastri. In the 1960s, India faced a food crisis. Shastri, known for his humble but bold leadership, realized that agriculture—particularly milk production—could be the key to rural empowerment. During a pivotal visit to Anand, Gujarat, he witnessed the success of the #Amul cooperative and saw the potential for replicating this Anand Amul Pattern across the nation. Shastri’s pivotal decision to entrust Dr. Kurien with expanding the cooperative model wasn’t just about dairy. It was about self-sufficiency, rural empowerment, and giving power back to the people. He backed the launch of #OperationFlood, sparking a movement that transformed India into the world’s largest milk producer. On his #birthday let's remember Shastri Ji’s legacy in the White Revolution, which shows us that visionary leadership is not always about being in the spotlight—it’s about enabling others to create change. His belief in the power of cooperatives and grassroots movements became the backbone of #India’s #dairy success story. "Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan"—A vision for farmers that transformed the nation’s milk economy. #LalBahadurShastri #WhiteRevolution #Amul #OperationFlood #Leadership #RuralEmpowerment #IndianDairy #NDDB

🚨 COW DUNG = FUEL = ₹10 CRORE ANNUAL TURNOVER?! 😮 Here's how India is transforming waste into wealth! In a groundbreaking move, PM Modi just inaugurated India’s first-ever Bio-CNG Gaushala in Gwalior—and it’s about to revolutionize how we look at cows, energy, and sustainability. This isn’t just another gaushala—it’s a massive energy hub with a capacity for 10,000 cows, producing 100 tons of cow dung every single day. And thanks to a partnership with Indian Oil Corporation (which invested ₹32 Crore under its CSR initiative), this cow dung will be converted into a powerful resource—CNG! 💡 Let’s break it down: 🔹 The CNG plant will turn that 100 tons of dung into 3 tons of Bio-CNG daily. 🔹 This gas will be directly used to power vehicles in Gwalior. Just think: a CNG auto from Bajaj has a 4kg tank, and these cows will produce enough fuel to power 750 auto-rickshaws every single day! 🛺 🔹 And here’s the kicker: At the current price of CNG (₹93.5/kg), this plant will generate a daily turnover of ₹2.8 Lakhs, which means over ₹10 Crore annually! 🚀 Why This Initiative is a Game-Changer for India: 1️⃣ Increases the life value of cows: By turning cow dung into fuel, farmers and gaushalas can generate more income from their livestock. 2️⃣ Empowers local communities: This project could pave the way for every district in India to become self-sufficient in meeting its gas needs. 3️⃣ Boosts the economy: By reducing India’s reliance on imported fuel, we can save forex, and this model also creates new job opportunities in the rural economy. #modi #india #bharat #development
