Thanks for the spotlight, Society of Professional Journalists! Some think "media ethics" is an oxymoron. They're wrong. Ethical journalists give people essential information to be free and self-governing and to make choices that better their lives, whether they're picking politicians or products. #SPJEthicsWeek #SPJCodeofEthics #Journalism #SocietyofProfessionalJournalists #EthicsWeek

As a journalist, we are daily confronted by a lot of ethical dilemmas. It’s not always easy to balance the public’s right to know with respecting people’s privacy or to report on sensitive issues without causing harm. These challenges can be tough, especially when the stakes are high and there’s no clear right answer. 📣 Through my recent course on Media Ethics, by the university of Amesterdam, I’ve gained valuable insights into these challenges, such as navigating the use of explicit imagery and balancing transparency with public safety. Proud to have earned my certification and looking forward to applying these principles to make my journalism more ethical and impactful. 😎 #Ethicaljournalism #MediaEthics #Morocco #Journalism

True or false: The First Amendment protects the speech of individuals 18 years old and above. FALSE. Take the quiz: https://lnkd.in/g9bWQWUg #journalismethics #photojournalism #firstamendment @splc #WSUethicsA2

My Personal Ethical Statement: In my professional life as a journalist, I will have a moral obligation to the truth and those who will see my work, which is the public. In accordance with the Society of Professional Journalists code of ethics, a journalist is a “servant” of the public and should always act independently” regardless of government or outside sway” (SPJ-code of ethics, 2014). Information should always be gathered in an ethical way and told in a way that is interesting and important, but also truthful. Accuracy of work is of the utmost important and should be checked and double checked before published, and the information gathered for purpose of publication should always be properly sourced. As a journalist, I should also strive to minimize the harm Iff cause. It is always important to remember that the stories told involve actual people that have emotions and feelings. Harmful stories that concern individuals can sever relationships and trust with the public. I should also be accountable of the work I release. I promise to take responsibility and pride in the work produced for all consumers.
