Women in Leadership - WOMEN RISING! Effective leaders develop a sense of purpose by pursuing goals that align with their personal values and advance the collective good. This allows them to look beyond the status quo to what is possible and gives them a compelling reason to take action despite personal fears and insecurities. Such leaders are seen as authentic and trustworthy because they are willing to take risks in the service of shared goals. By connecting others to a larger purpose, they inspire commitment, boost resolve, and help colleagues find deeper meaning in their work. We are thrilled to have several guest speakers joining us for WIL 2024 that will build on our strategic goal to strengthen alliances with our indigenous and new immigrant communities: promoting our Industry as a viable career choice. These valuable communities contribute diversity, language skills and innovation for a successful future. Join us on October 22, 2024 as we celebrate Women RISING. EVERYONE IS WELCOME! Three actions we suggest supporting women’s access to leadership positions are: (1) educate women and men about gender bias, (2) create safe “identity workspaces” to support transitions to bigger roles, and (3) anchor women’s development efforts in a sense of leadership purpose rather than in how women are perceived. These actions will give women insight into themselves and their organizations, enabling them to more effectively chart a course to leadership. Empowering Women in Leadership Despite significant progress, women continue to face unique challenges in leadership roles. In 2024, only 25% of top leadership positions globally are held by women, and many still encounter barriers like microaggressions, workplace biases, and a lack of support for work-life balance. Nearly 43% of women report experiencing some form of workplace bias, affecting their confidence and ability to lead effectively. But the future is bright. Women possess vital leadership skills like emotional intelligence, collaboration, and strategic thinking; that position them to excel in today’s evolving work environments. Companies that prioritise inclusive leadership and flexible working are paving the way for more women to thrive at the top. What do you think is the biggest challenge for women in leadership today? #Leadership #WomenInBusiness #InclusiveLeadership #ConfidenceCoaching #TheBoardroomFairy
