Gen Z Spunk formula (from a 22 year old social media manager that has had a facebook since she was 7) There are a couple of factors that I believe have given Gen Z this spunk we have seen online. 1. Being online from the time we were children We have seen it all. Ad? We have seen it. Blog article? Been there done that. It takes something to stand out to stop us in out tracks. Being funny, unfiltered or controversial usually gets us to stop in our tracks 2. Using Social Media as a way to communicate In middle school, I would always go on twitter and share every idea that popped in my noggin. Wither it be facebook, instagram, or any of the other platform. It has been common along the Gen Z age range. This has made social media more authentic. Meaning your unauthentic perfect promotional post makes us scroll right past it. 3. Vine. Okay HERE ME OUT. From 2012 to 2016 Gen Z was hooked on 6 second video clips. Fast, funny, and no promotion ever. Strictly entertaining. This has resonated as we become adults. With TikTok and reels, this is something we’re used to, no need to write an essay for a post. We like it quick and fast. Any other Gen Z social media managers, I want to hear what you have to say! For all of my millennials, gen x’s, and boomers marketers what have you witnessed about Gen Z, I would love to hear! #socialmediamanager #socialmediamarketing #genz #copywriting #socialmediacontent

What sets your social media apart from other baby & parenting professionals? Hint: It needs to go beyond pretty pictures. If you want your social media to resonate with parents, you need to think of your content as more than just posts—it’s a way to build trust, show empathy, have some fun and draw clients into your world. Here’s how you can do that: 🦉 Polls – Parents have opinions, and they love to share them! Use polls and quizzes to make them feel involved and valued. 🦉 Stories – Behind-the-scenes moments make your brand human and relatable. Just like swapping stories with a fellow parent, these glimpses help your audience connect with you on a deeper level. 🦉 Competitions – Bring a spark of fun to your feed. A well-crafted competition can boost interaction and make your target audience excited to engage with you. Remember, engagement isn’t just about boosting numbers—it’s about creating meaningful connections that encourage parents to trust you with their littles. Which of these engagement strategies would you add to your content plan? Let us know in the comments! 👇 P.S. How are you planning to stay consistent with your marketing through December? (Oh yes, this is a must if you want to start next year not broke!) P.P.S. We have 1 more space available for December if you want your social media marketing taken care of while you take a much needed family break (don't miss out!) #contentstrategy #parentingaccounts #babybrands #cabombacontent

Should our school have an Instagram account? I've had a few school marketing managers ask me this recently. In short: Yes, yes, and yes. It's a no-brainer. Trends show a noticeable skew towards Instagram (and TikTok) use amongst younger Millennials and Gen Z. These (if not already) will become your biggest cohort of parents very soon. You don't need a separate strategy for Instagram (I like to keep things simple). Just cross-post anything you're already putting on Facebook to Instagram as well. Meta's creator studio makes it super easy to cross-post anything on Facebook to Instagram. It's such an easy way to recycle the content you've already written and get it in front of more eyeballs.

Also, as an early adapter myself, ( started my blog in 2009) I see influencers going wild; doing the most outrageous and exploitive things just for the likes and comments. I get it, traffic = brand partnerships = money and we've all got to eat ( and feed our families). But last I checked, no one can pay their bills with "exposure" or backlinks. However, at what cost? You've got to realize that once you're out of the view of your audience, you've really got to raise your kids and they've really got to survive your influence. I think there's a way to do it, as long as your IRL people are always first and you stay true to who you really are ( not who your audience expects or wants you to be). Your perspective needs to stay grounded in reality. I know it's hard sometimes because it begins to feel unreal and you get accustomed to that life but there are consequences to sharing your life with the world and, tbh, public and sometimes frenzied criticism is just the tip of the iceberg. What are your thoughts on parents sharing their lives online? More importantly, what do you think the boundary should be? Is it once your kids reach a certain age? Where and when do you think it becomes too much? #momblogger #influencers #influencermarketing #momlife
In the 15+ years of doing what I do - the internet has become a dark and scary thing for a mom. In the early years - before Instagram or the word “influencer” - everything was a part of what we were already documenting: our kids growing up. Most of us started real conversations on Twitter. We were “trending” before hashtag was even a word. There was no money to be made. There was only moms making memories. Then? It all changed. Blogging was new but sharing wasn’t. It was when the brand deals came that the concept of sharing family stories exploded with over saturation & TMI of today. (Slamming eggs in your kids face? Slapping cheese on a babies face? Not ok!) With all that being said- as an early adapter I can concur how bad and dangerous it has become for kids in 2024. This isn’t the same internet. So many of us who built this machine have left it and gone back to the old school side of life. Give it a shot. Delete the apps that no longer make you feel good. Don’t create with the intention of creating just because you have to. Where have you gone on your digital destiny? Do you share to grow or share to show?

Social Media Platform Usage By Age Group Here are my 3 key takeaways: 👑 Video is still king. This data shows that YouTube is a hit across all age groups, especially teens (13-17) and young adults (18-24). This means video content should be front and center in your marketing plans for these groups, taking advantage of YouTube’s huge reach. 💪 Don't call it a comeback. They've been here for years. Facebook is still going strong with adults aged 25-30 and older groups (31-49, 50-64), making it a great spot to connect with a more mature crowd. Focus on making content that sparks their interest and keeps them engaged. 🤳 Understand all the platforms. Younger folks are all over multiple platforms like TikTok, Snapchat, and Instagram, along with YouTube. This means you’ll need to mix it up and create different kinds of content for each platform to keep these younger audiences hooked and engaged. What did you take away from this?
