#International; #Export; #EmergingMarkets; #BuninessEthics; #Overwork; #Culture; #BurnOut Not so long ago I shared an article about the benefits of stop thinking about work after work for managers (https://lnkd.in/etrYsiXk). Unfortunately, one of the consequences of COVID and remote work is making the line between working time and personal time fuzzy, and as a consequence we have a tendency to Overwork pushed also by the need to show our engagement. How to conciliate both: stop thinking and yet keep the engagement of teams?, By fixing overwork culture thanks to the following three steps process proposed by the author: 1/ Asses your company's baseline level overwork and its origins. Start by conducting a needs assessment to understand the baseline, identify areas requiring change, and gauge support or resistance, ultimately guiding tailored interventions at various organizational levels. 2/ Plan for incremental change by targeting places where change will be most effective soonest. To effectively tackle an overwork culture, organizations must first conduct a detailed assessment to determine where change is most feasible and impactful, followed by setting clear goals and making incremental adjustments. Building trust across all levels, simplifying trial plans for ease of implementation, and maintaining open, two-way communication throughout the process are crucial for success. 3/ Execute the trial experiment, learn and iterate When implementing changes to combat overwork, start small and communicate clearly, avoiding broad announcements or vague initiatives. Begin with targeted changes, continuously gauge employee reactions, and clarify ambiguous measures. Despite potential resistance and the entrenched work devotion culture, evidence suggests that reducing work hours and decreasing constant connectivity can actually enhance productivity and reduce turnover, healthcare, and productivity costs. And what is the situation in your company, department, for you? Do not ask when to start, just start!
