We’re thrilled to announce that community member startup Everest Carbon has successfully launched, raising an impressive $3 million in funding to commercialize its groundbreaking technology. Founded by Pascal Michel, Everest Carbon is tackling one of the climate crisis's biggest challenges: reliable and scalable carbon removal measurement. Everest Carbon’s innovative Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW) sensor technology provides real-time, in-field measurements of carbon removal, eliminating the need for expensive and labor-intensive lab analyses. By leveraging a patented ion-exchange resin system, their sensor tracks the transformation of CO₂ into carbonate alkalinity directly in the soil, a breakthrough that reduces monitoring costs by over 90%. This funding will help Everest Carbon scale its solution, paving the way for ERW to become a key player in the global carbon removal industry. Congratulations Pascal Michel Matthias Ginterseder and Jonte Boysen for this milestone achievement! #CarbonRemoval #ClimateTech

Time to take a look at some recent climate tech funding round announcements that you may have missed💰 🌊 SeaO2 successfully closed its €2+ million seed round to accelerate its pioneering Direct Ocean Capture technology. The Amsterdam-based company uses its technology to remove CO₂ directly from seawater, helping mitigate climate change by enhancing the ocean’s natural ability to absorb CO₂ from the atmosphere. 🌻Energy tech firm Flower has closed its Series A funding with a further €20 million, bringing its round to an impressive €45 million. Flower’s AI-driven software enables grid operators to share data to optimise clean energy supply and demand. Led by Northzone, this round will fund the Swedish company’s pan-European expansion beginning in 2025. ♻️ Recyda GmbH has raised €6.3 million in a Series B round led by Cusp Capital. Based in Freiburg, the company’s packaging management software helps companies along the packaging value chain assess recyclability to help stem the global flood of packaging waste. The team plans to use the funds to expand into international markets, acquire new customers and accelerate product development. The diversity of companies receiving funding this month suggests the future of climate tech is bright! Congratulations to these pioneers - we look forward to seeing what’s next. #FundingRounds #StartupCommunity #Innovation #Entrepreneurship

French clean tech startup Calyxia nets $35M to tackle microplastics pollution. French clean tech startup Calyxia has profitability within sight. The company just raised a $35 million Series B round that will help it further ramp up industrial production of its sustainable alternatives to microparticles and microcapsules, setting it on the path to net profitability by 2026. But co-founder and CEO Jamie Walters says the B Corp is just getting started. The “starter” problem Calyxia is tackling is staggering at global scale: Microplastics are polluting everything around the world, from soils, rivers and beaches to the icy waters of the Arctic — they’re even getting inside our own bodies and brains. Beyond that, the traditional production methods employed by the materials and chemical industries can cause a range of environmental issues. It’s imperative to green up industrial manufacturing processes if we’re to safeguard the environment for future generations and reduce the energy used to make stuff. Walters said Calyxia’s mission for the next five to 10 years is to become the global leader in the microparticles and microcapsules categories. After that, he wants the company’s technologies to be transforming the industrial chemical industry more broadly. https://lnkd.in/gD8p6mfF #Calyxia #microplastics #environment

Last year, I took the plunge and made my first angel investment. I met Marc from the startup Cula Technologies at a climate tech event. At that time they only had a first prototype not even a company. But he convinced me, because they solve a major problem in climate protection projects. In many climate protection projects, the amount of CO2 reduced or removed from the air is greatly overestimated. There is a lack of transparency and of tracking entire projects. Cula makes accurate tracking attractive. They started with biochar. Cula tracks exactly how much CO2 the biomass takes out of the air, how much is emitted in the production process and how much is stored long term in the soil. Cula gives businesses exact results of how much CO2 has actually been extracted from the air and permanently stored. And that's exactly what we need if we want to stay within the 1.5 degree limit. We need to combine and scale technology and nature. Because nature is the most efficient at extracting CO2 from the air and technology helps us to protect the climate in a meaningful way. I could go on writing but a website says more than a thousand words. The Cula website explains the whole thing with beautiful illustrations and has already won an award for that: https://www.cula.tech/ And if you're also thinking about making your first angel investment, I'd be happy to help with my knowledge. It would be great if more people would use their money to invest in innovative, sustainable startups. The picture shows Oliver and Marc two of the four founders of Cula Technologies.
