In an interesting LinkedIn post by George Ionut Danifeld concerning Apple’s new approach to AI, Apple Intelligence, I found myself intently staring at the following sentence: ‘The key idea is that for AI to be useful, it needs your data.’ The reality is that for Apple Intelligence to be truly useful, just having data from humans isn’t enough because crappy human data is still crappy human data. The trick is to use superior data from engaged panelists and have that serve as the guts that makes AI go. And I’m not talking about data that simply isn’t fraudulent data – we’ve got to go much further down the road when it comes to what really good data represents. Folks, it’s all about creating a better respondent experience and that serves as the mantra of GMIFY. I can’t think of a better one when it comes to what’s truly important in the world of panelists and the data they produce. #mentalhealth #dataquality #marketresearch #insightsassociation #esomar #newmr

Critcal Thinking in the News: Notable Insights Worth Discussing: "I think we just we have a mess here and the country is going to have to learn critical thinking that may be an impossible challenge for the U.S., but the fact that somebody told you something does not mean that it's true." "I think we have a trust problem in our society, democracies can fail and I think that the greatest threat to democracy is misinformation because we're going to get really good at it." The full interview at Stanford providing deep insights into AI, was taken down apparently because Schmidt said some negative things about Google. If your interested in discussing why Schmidt thinks learning critical thinking might be an impossible task in the U.S. or your home country AND, MORE IMPORTANTLY, want to consider ways to prove Schmidt wrong, please reach out to me.

You don't need a Ph.D. in computer science to harness the value of AI, as Krish Venkataraman, president of our portfolio company Dataiku, shared with Edward Ludlow and Caroline Hyde on Bloomberg TV. 🚀 In fact, per Krish, "We think of AI as something that everyday users in an organization should be using. So not only the data scientists, but the person who works in finance, the person who works in HR, the person who works in legal, the person who works in manufacturing. Those people don't need an advanced degree to really take the value of AI, because right now, what we are seeing behind the scenes... most of the investment and the value creation, both for companies as well as for investors, is going to come in the application layer."
