In a little over a week, I will have the pleasure of hosting a fireside chat with Aimee Connolly in Belfast eComm Live™ & eComm Awards | eCommerce Events .. For those at home, they will know both Aimee and her brand. They are a blazing a trail. For those in the other markets watch them closely. First thing we need to do is come up with a new name for the fireside chat. There are characteristics that can join successful brands togehter and Sculpted by Aimee is no exception. > Shopify led experience. > Omni channel approach. (Bricks and Mortar and concessions) > Embracing international selling. (UK, Saudi Arabia and more) > Using Social channels to community build. > Strong brand proposition connected directly to all brand values. Evident throughout the site. > Creation of value adds for the community - MUA courses, events and more. > Customer events dotted throughout the year. > The right amount of NPD. > Events and marketing opportunities across each business element. > Random acts of customer kindness. > A CSR/ESG policy that is right fit. > A super lean ecomm team - hire well and empower. > Test and learn environment. > Embracing tech where it makes sense to do so. > Strong planned marketing to that reactive marketing can happen and capture market moments. > Knowing when to stop something. But couple this with: > Strong brand values which are leading the internal culture. > A leader who knows the market very well and has naturally leaned into diversity - giving a larger addressable market. > Simplicity as a value - it should not be so complicated. > Brilliant commercial policies. > Brilliant market understanding (example: European cosmetic regulations are among the strictest in the world, Aimee searched for nearby producers online, and opted for one in Italy at first, knowing they would be compliant. She worked with her producers to develop formulas for her first two products.) A by product, shorter delivery times. Since its set up in 2016, Aimee and her team have built wisely and repatrioted money back into the business to develop it. Organically grown Happy customers = Profitable company There are a lot of spinning plates there and much of the above seems simple, but is not. Blending them, keeping them going is so tough. With the category they are in, there is enormous room for growth. Brands such as E.L.F. BEAUTY provide a framework of whatis possible. 20 consecutive quarters of growth. Similar in their make up (pun intended), I really am excited to see where they go next. Can't wait for our catch up next week.
