We recently heard someone say, "Second place? No, thank you. It's first or nothing." But here’s the thing—second place has its own unique power, Why? 🔹 Your 'failures' are someone else's successes. Learn to celebrate progress rather than dismiss it as ‘not enough.’ Second place is proof you’re in the game, competing, and growing. 🔹 Feedback is gold. Coming in second gives you the chance to reflect, adapt, and take meaningful action. It’s a rare opportunity to fine-tune your approach and come back stronger. 🔹 Respect matters more than ranking. Being second doesn’t diminish your value or capability. What truly counts is earning respect and securing a seat at the table. Our key takeaway? Business isn’t a zero-sum game. Success isn’t limited to first place—there’s enough to go around for everyone. So, let’s not underestimate the value of second place. It’s a stepping stone, not a dead end. DEIB got name change? Inclusive Leadership? Sounds nice... that was my reaction... To me, inclusive leadership sounds more like a one-size-fits-all model. And if you feel the same, it's time to take ownership of your own belonging. 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆, 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝘁𝗲 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲... 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝘁'𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼𝗼 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗶𝘁. Stop outsourcing your belonging to corporate spaces. As a woman of color... - You have the power to shape your environment and lead your own sense of belonging. - You owe it to yourself to cultivate a space where you feel supported, not drained. - Practice knowing yourself and trusting your instincts. 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁... 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗻'𝘁 𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂. It's a great journey - especially because success is more than just your career. Need to chat? I'd love to hear from you in my inbox. #OwnYourBelonging #InclusiveLeadership #Thriving

🌟 Reflecting on the invaluable lesson of leading by example and curating a supportive network for business success! 🌟 Recently, I had the honor of connecting with one of my heroes and business role models, Rebecca, at one of our pivotal industry events - Super Saturday at the Gold Coast. ✨ It's about understanding our own strengths and weaknesses and surrounding ourselves with individuals who complement and enhance our abilities. By entrusting others with specific tasks, we not only lighten our own workload but also foster an environment of trust and collaboration within our teams. 🌟 This collaborative spirit breeds innovation and creativity, as diverse perspectives come together to tackle challenges and seize opportunities. Ultimately, being a master delegator isn't a sign of weakness; it's a testament to our leadership prowess. It allows us to scale our businesses effectively, cultivate a culture of empowerment, and unlock our full potential as entrepreneurs. 🔐 So let's embrace delegation not as a burden, but as a strategic imperative on the path to sustainable success.

🚀 Forget the Corporate Ladder — Winners Take Risks by Molly Graham In her insightful TED Talk, Molly Graham challenges the traditional notion of climbing the corporate ladder. She argues that true success often comes from stepping off the beaten path and taking risks. Drawing from her own experiences in startups and unconventional roles, Graham shows how embracing non-linear career paths can open doors to unexpected opportunities, growth, and fulfilment. Rather than focusing solely on promotions and titles, she encourages us to prioritise learning, taking chances, and creating value. 💡 The key takeaway? Leadership succession is a key challenge for family businesses, especially in Southeast Asia, where tradition and modernity often intersect. I came across this insightful white paper, "The Heartbeat of Family Business Leadership Succession: A Perspective from Southeast Asia," by Jonathan Ramos, which delves into these complexities and offers a thoughtful approach to navigating them. My key takeaway from the it is, successful leadership transitions in family businesses go beyond financial planning—they require a strong focus on interpersonal dynamics, emotional intelligence, and strategic foresight. I highly recommend this read for anyone involved in family-owned enterprises or leadership transitions. https://lnkd.in/gMgkbidy #LeadershipSuccession #FamilyBusiness #SoutheastAsia #LegacyAndInnovation #StrategicLeadership

🚀 Taking the Leap Despite Hesitation Let’s get real for a moment: I almost didn’t give Kingdom Alliance a chance. Why? Because I’d been burned before. I invested time, money, and hope into coaches and companies that promised the moon but delivered disappointment. One experience stood out—a “faith-based” organization that didn’t walk the talk. That stung. But Kingdom Alliance felt different from the start. The leadership wasn’t distant or untouchable—they were approachable, authentic, and encouraging. Instead of competition, I found collaboration. Instead of empty promises, I found real, faith-driven support. Taking this step taught me an important lesson: the right opportunities don’t just change your business—they transform your mindset and your heart. 👉 Have you ever hesitated to pursue something new because of past experiences? I’d love to hear your story in the comments. #FaithInBusiness #KingdomLeadership #PersonalGrowth

Awesome Time Reconnecting! Earlier this week I had a great time re-touching realities with my colleague #GVOT alumni 2022. It’s been months since we completed our leadership entrepreneurship program with Lehigh University and Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Program : there should be more partners to mention 😅 After weeks long of grouped interactions on projects with #realtime companies across globe, we convened at #northmacedonia for further #leadership and #entrepreneurial simulations. My team was so diverse and interestingly proactive! As a program reflection: 1️⃣ Accept to be led - working with a team of individuals from all over the world exposed me to the realities of working with equally knowledgeable leaders. In such settings, one can easily struggle adopting others ideas or perspectives, but I had a seamless run of events with my team! 2️⃣ Selective creativity - as a #creativecommunicator, I can easily be swayed by my own creative process. Learning to merge my creative inputs with the inputs from others was my best strength. Listening carefully to everyone, and voicing my opinions likewise. I enjoyed the cumulating process of our journey, having fun knowing each other, while being committed to a great #submission. 3️⃣ People & Culture - I received a lot of comments on my ability to bring my team back on track when we seemed too destructed. Work matters guys 😃: my thought process for this was, ‘It’s ok to take healthy breaks, but always get back working. Someone has to do it!’ But most importantly, watch how you do such; choice of words, body language, gesture, and #affiliate influence. You can simply draw a team back to work by being the first to get back to work 😉 #affiliateinfluence. Reconnecting with these amazing people brought back all these memories: the #work , the #networking, the #sightseeing and trying to figure out what and how we would eat in a completely new city 😄#skopje. Thanks to Harris Sulaiman, LPT for hostingq this! I am excited to explore more connective activities with everyone! Aliyu Lawal Abdussamad Sarah Aishah Raneem Diab and every other alumni! #leadership #entrepreneurship #leadingchange #growth
