Amid the complex challenges facing the global economy and a slight weakening in growth momentum, the global pharmaceutical market has seen a slowdown in growth. However, the vitality of research and innovation remains strong, indicating profound changes within the industry and sustained development potential. Meanwhile, the ongoing expansion of the generic drug market provides growth opportunities for China's pharmaceutical import and export trade. Various major global markets have adopted different policy measures to reduce prices and control costs, improving drug accessibility. At the same time, the continuous updating and improvement of regulatory policies have placed higher demands on the quality and market adaptability of imported drugs. China's pharmaceutical import and export data reveals new trends in industry development: In the first half of 2024, the total import and export value of pharmaceuticals reached $52.96 billion, representing a 2.5% decline compared to the same period last year. However, this decrease is noticeably smaller than in previous periods, indicating that the market is gradually stabilizing. Of this total, exports amounted to $26.97 billion, a year-on-year increase of 2.0%, while imports totaled $25.99 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 6.8%. #APIs #Rawmaterials #Pharma #Medicine #Pharmaceutical

Indian Pharm Exports grows at 10.2%. In May 2024, India's pharmaceutical exports showed significant growth. The export value for drugs and pharmaceuticals increased by 7.36%, rising from USD 2.26 billion in April 2023 to USD 2.43 billion in April 2024. For the fiscal year 2023-24, the total pharmaceutical exports were projected to reach USD 28 billion, marking an incremental growth of 10.2% compared to the previous fiscal year. This growth was driven by increased demand in the United States and Europe due to critical drug shortages in this region. Growth highlights India's role as a key supplier of pharmaceuticals globally, despite facing challenges such as stringent regulatory requirements, supply chain disruptions, and quality control issues. The sector's expansion reflects both resilience and the capacity to address global health needs effectively.
