Recently The Times published an article titled "How Bosses Are Using LinkedIn to Charm Investors," which delves into how execs are softening their public personas by posting personal, direct-to-camera videos on social, often to accompany earnings reports. The trend started in America and is now catching on among British execs. This doesn't surprise us. Here at EveryoneSocial, we host regular webinars on executive activation where we look at effective and engaging exec LinkedIn posts. And the ones where the members of the C-suite get a little personal, tell their stories, and share family photos are often among the top-performing. What does surprise us? The fact that an H/Advisors report found that 30% of CEOs still aren't on social at all. What a huge disadvantage for their companies! There's a reason why there's a 23% increase in exec LinkedIn posts globally year over year: It humanizes the C-suite and impacts the company's bottom line. Each CEO, CMO, and CEO — indeed, every executive at your company — plays an important role in building employer brand, establishing trust in the company, and attracting top talent. And they help inspire all your employees to get involved in #EmployeeAdvocacy.

Are you considering whether to encourage your employees to post on LinkedIn? Here’s why it’s a smart move: 🚀 Brand Amplification: Employee posts can increase brand visibility by up to 561% (LinkedIn). That’s powerful exposure! 🚀 Talent Magnet: Companies with active employee advocates on LinkedIn are 58% more likely to attract top talent (LinkedIn). Your employees are your best recruitment assets! 🚀 Trust Building: Content shared by employees receives 8x more engagement than content shared by brand channels (Social Media Today). It builds trust and authenticity. 🚀 Lead Generation: Companies with engaged employees generate 7x more leads (Marketing Advisory Network). That’s a significant boost to your sales pipeline! 🚀 Culture Showcase: Showcase your company culture authentically, drawing in like-minded professionals. Despite these benefits, some employers fear: ➡️ Loss of Control: Concerns about employees sharing confidential information or misrepresenting the brand. ➡️ Negative Feedback: Worry about negative comments or reviews tarnishing the company’s reputation. ➡️ Time Consuming: Fear that managing employee posts will be time-consuming and challenging to coordinate. But with the right guidelines and training, the benefits far outweigh the risks. And I mean in business don’t we all take risks? If you set up a social media policy and provide training it can work and it does work! I’ve helped organizations implement this strategy and they have seen both tremendous growth and employees enjoying creating content. #EmployeeAdvocacy #LinkedInStrategy#TrainWithFain

Why are more and more C-suite executives posting on LinkedIn? According to an article I read recently in the Financial Times, the number of US executives on LinkedIn has increased by 35% over the past 5 years. Dan Shapero, chief operating officer at LinkedIn, explains: “Executives, as an extension of the corporate brand, are using LinkedIn as a way to build connection and trust with the audiences that they care about”. There are other benefits, too: → Attracting talent. 82% of employees research a CEO’s online presence when considering joining a company (Brunswick). → Recognizing and engaging employees. → Improved business results. 71% of consumers are more likely to buy from a company if its CEO is active on social media (Edelman). The data is clear: executive presence on LinkedIn matters more than ever. #EmployeeInfluence #LeadershipSocialMedia #CEOSocialMedia

We analyzed 11,107 employee LinkedIn posts… Here are the 4 key takeaways you need to know: 1️⃣ Your CEO wields huge influence on LinkedIn. They generated the same average number of reactions per post as the company page, with 98% fewer followers. 2️⃣ Posting on LinkedIn is commonly seen as an activity for Sales and Marketing. Yet, Engineers and HR were the most active participants in an advocacy program of nearly 2,000 employees. 3️⃣ Video content was the most popular content format for employees to share AND the most popular among their audiences (by both average reactions and comments). 4️⃣ To build a community on LinkedIn, company culture content is key. Company culture dominated the top 25 employee LinkedIn posts in terms of comments received. The CEO impact is what really stood out to me. Although the CEO has less than 2% of the ~300,000 Company Page followers, both generate an average of 300 reactions per post. Plus, of the top 10 posts with the most reactions, 9 were by the CEO. And when it comes to website clicks, the CEO’s top-performing post generated 62% more clicks than the 2nd most clicked post. Think of the wasted potential if your leadership team isn’t actively sharing content on LinkedIn. #EmployeeAdvocacy
