Is AI going to create MORE work for lawyers? Are we going to see a rise in disputes? The evidence suggests yes. Recent articles in both Corporate Counsel and Law360 have detailed how some lawyers are busier than ever responding to claims generated by AI. In fact as Steven Lerner pointed out, it appears that we may even have some bot on bot crime with EvenUp being used to file the claims and LegalMation responding. Bridget Mary McCormack and I had the opportunity to discuss this and so much more with lawyer/entrepreneur/writer/author/niche celebrity David Lat. He gave us a gut check on how "lawyers lawyers" (not just the innovation folks) are thinking about AI. I say this every time we release a podcast, but this may have been our best one yet! Compliance monitoring is just one of the many huge potential use cases for AI in the law. For under-staffed and under-resourced governments and agencies, AI tools could help level the playing field when it comes to compliance and help clear massive case backlogs plaguing our system. Could AI-driven compliance monitoring change the balance of power between everyday people and large corporations? Is the price of legal services about to drop meaningfully? ......................................... ......................................... Competition law is in my view one of the most complex and fascinating areas of law. So it’s beyond impressive to hear such a clear cut and insightful take on the competition law implications of #AI development. Kudos to my colleagues Scott Loughlin, Edith Ramirez and Chris Fitzpatrick for another awesome Data Chronicles podcast. If #AI governance is your thing, don’t miss it.👇 https://lnkd.in/ehMn42AG
