Did you know that offering great benefits isn't enough? Studies show employees often miss out on valuable resources simply because they don't understand them. This leads to higher costs and frustrated teams. Here's how you can fix the education gap: Care navigation: Integrate healthcare professionals into your benefits program that offer personal support and guidance. Clear and concise communication materials: Use plain language, visuals, and real-life examples to explain complex concepts. Online resources and tools: Provide easy access to plan summaries, FAQs, and decision support tools. Ongoing support and communication: Regularly remind employees about available benefits and provide updates on any plan changes. Want to learn more about maximizing your benefits investment? What does it mean to create a "benefits literate" population? With the criticism aimed at brokers who only talk to their clients when they have the renewal, why is some of that criticism not also aimed at the carrier? It should be equal responsibility amongst all parties to invest in the education of the members to truly maximize their benefits, understand the process, and be an educated consumer. With Sana, our Customer Success team and I create a consistent flow of communication 👉 throughout the course of the year 👈 . How are we doing this outside of OE? - Group Meetings - Specific product highlights - Open hours for questions - Email communications - Care navigation - Product refresh sessions Doing so helps our members stay engaged with the solution, keeps benefits top of mind, and helps the overall plan run as efficiently as possible. Who else in the market is doing that? #benefits #education #employeebenefits #healthtec #insurtech #healthbenefits

⚠ Communication has changed However, in today's complex benefits landscape, open enrollment (OE) communication strategies still have not. 🤔 My teammate and Communications Sensei, Erika Illiano, addressed this issue head on in a recent BenefitsPRO article (link in comments). TLDR: 🚫 A lack of health care literacy can lead to poor benefits utilization, increased costs, and lower job satisfaction. What employers can do... 💡 Tailor communications to different generational preferences, simplify language, and offer materials in multiple languages. 💡 Personalize education, through decision-support tools or storytelling, to help employees make better choices. 💡 Streamline offerings and provide easy access to information. Bottom line: By focusing on clear, personalized, and accessible communication, employers can improve employee health care literacy, maximize benefits utilization, and enhance overall morale. Good luck out there to all my Benefits folks and may any 4th quarter implementations/changes be ever in your favor! 😎

What are some of the challenges employers and employees are expected to face this open enrollment season? Healthcare costs for employers are expected to increase significantly, for one thing. As for employees, they plan to spend less on benefits this year, which is unfortunate, since employees’ willingness to spend is going down at the same time benefit costs are rising. Employees also remain confused about their benefits; that's where education can play a key role in helping workers recognize and appreciate the benefits available to them. #openenrollment #benefits #employeebenefits https://lnkd.in/eWwY3z9E
