If you’ve not yet been to GROW in Failsworth I highly recommend a visit. You won’t want to leave!
It all started with a vision for a derelict acre of public land in Failsworth two years ago. Working cooperatively to bring this space back to life for and with our community has proven effective. When communities are trusted and supported to bring about change, amazing things can happen 💚 Over the past two years, we’ve supported several female-led enterprises to start or grow on our site, including horticulture, orchard care, forest School, bike riding and library, beekeeping, goat therapy, paddle sports, and food and nutritional education. We’ve increased biodiversity with ponds, dead hedges, hugelkultur, and sustainable gardening, creating spaces where both nature and people can thrive 🌱 This year alone, we’ve grown over one tonne of food, equating to 12,705 meals, which we’ve shared with our communities through social meals, community harvesting, and preserving , closing the gap between where food is grown and the people who need it. We’ve collectively created many events, workshops, projects, training, celebrations, sharing food, playing, learning, laughing, goat and chicken cuddles and most importantly creating Grass Roots Oldham together 🐐🚴🏾♀️🌳🌱🍎🐓🚣🏽♂️🏄♂️🥗 Every day, I am inspired and in awe by the treasure that already exists in our community skills, kindness, knowledge can do attitudes and absolute strength. When you create space, nurture, resource, collaborate and share, we can achieve anything especially when we build it together 🌟 We’ve not even scratched the surface on what we want to accomplish, and we still have lots we want to do, but we are grateful for last two years and everyone who’s been a part building it from the Grass Roots up and excited for our collaborative future 💚 📹Show Motion Media
I love this. It looks amazing, an oasis indeed. 💚
Thanks for sharing Eve, we are really proud of what we have created and looking forward to what we’ve got planned for 2025 💚

5dIt’s a lovely oasis isn’t it. A friend bought my daughters vouchers to feed the goats in the summer. Such a lovely experience for us all and got the opportunity to look round the site. Shows what can be done, even with small pockets of land.
