This fall, I had the opportunity to intern with the office of Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi (IL-08). This experience has been an illuminating one, and I am beyond thankful to Congressman Krishnamoorthi's staff - in particular, Anna Dodge - for how willing they were to bring me into the fold and allow me to work on some substantive projects. I had the opportunity to conduct policy research, prepare briefing materials for a few of Congressman Krishnamoorthi's public events, draft constituent correspondence letters, and sit in on stakeholder meetings alongside the office's Legislative Director, Andrew Lowenthal. In my spare time, I was also able to attend a slew of legislative briefings and hearings on some of the issue-areas I am most interested in - the energy transition, sustainability, and conservation. In its entirety, this experience has made me all the more certain this is the sort of work I am supposed to be doing. I want to thank my Internship Coordinator, Vikas Madhav Nagarajan, and the office's Deputy Chief of Staff, Nicole Malec, for giving me this opportunity and for being incredibly kind and helpful mentors every step of the way. This internship was the first step. I look forward to seeing what comes next.
Congressional Intern
2dI also wanted to give a big thanks to a few people outside of Congressman Krishnamoorthi's office who were kind enough to set aside the time to sit down with another office's intern and talk about their experiences on the Hill. I am looking at you, Earl Scott Flood, Nicholas Cargas, Kaylee R., Matt Bonaccorsi, Yasmine Brown, and James Floyd.
