I spent 7+ years as a tech evangelist and my favourite part of the job was the hardest bit: Breaking down complex technical concepts into stories, use cases, visualisations and plain English language. Technology is complex, developing software is too and the resulting products can be hugely powerful for organisations that use them. But many users only ever scratch the surface when it comes to features and capabilities. They do, on the other hand, have very real and often difficult business problems to solve and they want to use technology to do so. That's why we need people who can translate the technical stuff into a language that makes it real and exciting for everyone else. To do that you don't have to be an evangelist. Being the bridge between the business and the tech is not just rewarding, it's a valuable role and it's becoming ever more important. Because as long as communication between 'technical people' and 'business people' remains challenging, there is a need for someone in the middle. Are you that person?
