"What type of product manager do you want to be?" my colleague asked me. Type? I asked looking confused... Are there types? "Yes" she responded Then I went on Google and found out that there are different types of product managers So I did a self-assessment exercise to determine which type would better suit me I identified my skills and strengths. I considered my analytical, creative, and technical skills. Then I matched those skills to a suitable role. I also considered what I'm passionate about, and it guided me toward industries or product types that excite me. The result of the self-assessment exercise helped to shape my product management career decisions and how far I have come. If you're feeling lost in your transition journey, you can start by doing a self assessment exercise. Remember that this is an ongoing process. As you learn more, your preferences may evolve. Don't be afraid to start in a general product manager role and then specialize later. xoxo. #Linkedin100 #Productmanager #productmanagement #evafunsho
Eva Funsho This is also applicable to other profession too....Just like we have Early childhood education, you could either be a Nutritionist, Learning difficulty specialist, a therapist and lots more. Just as you said.....Self reflection so you can identify your strength and weakness so as to know the part you can play best.
Surprisingly, there is so much variety, but it is normal. Because as sector structures change, professional definitions also change.
great content dish out Eva Funsho i am Enterprise PM with a bit of technical part --- i help manages products targeted at businesses or organizations, -- enterprise software, B2B services, and other solutions tailored for corporate use but am dynamic in nature.
Self-assessment is crucial both in our professional and personal lives, it helps us gain better clarity and purpose.
I can totally relate. Most people still refer to me as a graphic designer but in reality Graphic designer is a broad name with so many niche people can specialise on
based on my past skills and experiences, I should focus more on growth pm or pmm. but I won't mind just starting off generic and finding my way from there as well. Thank you for sharing Eva
