Humanity has shown that population increase and climate change are hazardous combinations, as nations struggle to feed a population that is growing at an alarming rate while water, which is essential to agriculture, is becoming increasingly scarce. By measuring the amount of water that crops truly require to thrive, Israeli companies has created a system that may save a significant portion of the valuable water used in farming. Based on the idea that this activity expends energy, which in turn generates heat, the business created a sensor that is directly inserted into the trunk or stem of a crop and tracks the plant's water consumption using temperature rises. An analytics program receives the data gathered by the sensors and converts temperature variations into the amount of water absorbed by the plant. ♦️ Water is an essential resources which is scarce and must be used with care. ♦️ This has challenged the agricultural community for the past few generations whose live hood heavily relies on this precious resource. ♦️ Traditional irrigation practices were labour intensive with serious shortcomings such as soil erosion, which inadvertently transported the minerals and fertilizers away from the crop. ♦️ Drip irrigation mitigated these problems by introducing an innovative practice of using intricate connections of pipe to deliver water directly to the foot of the crop. ♦️ This resulted in reduced water consumption via superior water management without affect the yield. ♦️ Such an Innovative solution to a decade old problem helped our farmers save water, money and labour time without sacrificing the outcome ! #celebratinginnovation #innovation #science #technology #openinnovation
