✨ Every Journey Starts with a Single Step 👣 On a recent trip, I saw this message on a hotel room wall, and it got me reflecting on my career. Every significant milestone I've reached has begun with a challenging decision. The very first one of those was in the early stage of my career, leaving a secure role in HR to pursue a Master’s degree and pivot into product management. That step set the stage for me to lead impactful projects across industries, from automobiles to espresso machines, and influence diverse markets and regions. I've learned that growth often requires risk and resilience. It demands keeping an open mind and a commitment to learning—traits that continue to shape my path. I’m especially grateful to the incredible team at Perfetti Van Melle for supporting me early in my career and shaping the foundation of the decisions that followed. At Mondelēz International, every day is a day of new learnings and growth. This week I learnt how a small conversation with a consumer can change a lot. For my project, when I spoke to consumers for Cadbury Dairy Milk I realised so much about their perspective and the feelings that go behind every purchase. Before joining the company I was under the perception that chocolates are only an impulsive form of purchase but after talking to consumers I saw the emotional attachment with the brand. One story, in particular, captured the essence of this connection. A woman recounted a childhood memory where, after a tumble from her bicycle, her grandfather offered her a Cadbury Dairy Milk to soothe her spirits and embolden her to try again. Since then, this chocolate has become her trusted companion during moments of distress, a beacon of comfort in times of need. This touching anecdote serves as a poignant reminder of the profound impact our products can have on individuals’ lives. After 7 wonderful years at Nielsen/NielsenIQ/NIQ, it’s time to say goodbye! I’m thankful to have worked with so many like minded, enthusiastic, data savvy and most of all kind people. At NIQ, there’s always someone to help and think along. And not just about work, as my managers kept saying: “It’s always about you as a person first”. There are too many (old) colleagues to thank for all of the opportunities I got, skills I’ve been taught or making Nielsen like a home for me. To highlight some: Hans for always believing in me, offering me a job offer before even graduating and being my analytical inspiration. Jasper for showing me what great leadership means in practice, trusting me with important clients and presentations and overall being such a great mentor. Kayleigh, my partner in crime, words can’t describe how grateful I am for having you as colleague and later manager. We accomplished so much together, while having so much fun (gonna miss our office karaoke, it’s Friday…..). There are so many more I could mention, NIQ exists of so many great colleagues so sorry to everyone I didn’t mention 🥲 Also a shoutout to everyone at the retailers I worked at. Albert Heijn, Etos, Gall&Gall, Bol.com, Aldi and ICI Paris XL to name a few. I learned a great deal about the workings of a retailer, the need of data in retail and how to present insightfull and inspiring presentations. After more than 100 analyses/presentations, becoming senior analyst and coaching my colleagues in the retail team it’s time for a new adventure: In three weeks I’ll start at Henkel as Category Manager 🤩
