The day after: PostGIS Day! 🎉 Hosted by none other than Paul Ramsey, this annual shindig brought together 22 geo-wizards from across the globe. The agenda? Everything PostGIS: from "old-school" cartography with Joshua Carlson to Brian Timoney's minimalist mapping with—I kid you not—Excel. Who knew spreadsheets could be so geographical? Rekha Khandhadia impressed with her geo-magic using GeoParquet and a hefty 300GB of data. And let’s not forget Brian Loomis, turning PostGIS and PostgreSQL into CARB-compliance ninjas for Nikola Motors. Steve Pousty dipped his toes into AI without causing a singularity. Refreshing! Meanwhile, we ventured into urban climate wonders, routing conundrums, and API cornucopias. Hats off to Kirk Menke for putting QGIS adoption trends on the map. Literally. SAERI’s Jack Ingledew-Gale presented the introduction/refresher to the Falkland Islands Data Portal/WebGIS to Falkland Islands Government (FIG) employees last week. This covered topics such as local datasets available, spatial data management, and visualisation.
