Here's the second installation of the USAF Tactical Air Control Party WWII Origins Series for the TACP Foundation, covering the roots of TACP in the WWII Sicilian Campaign "Rover Joe" concept. Most TACP's are totally unaware of the career field's roots in WWII, and the narrative and pictures in the article convey a system for controlling close air support from the ground that closely mirrors today's methods. Four Lockheed Martin F-35 fighter jets arrived in Denmark on 6 December 2024. The jets, flown from the United States, landed at Fighter Wing Skrydstrup, the country’s primary base for military aircraft. This addition brings Denmark’s F-35 fleet to eight, with three more jets expected to arrive over the winter, increasing the total to 11. The new aircraft will progressively replace the ageing F-16 jets, which have served as Denmark’s primary defence force for decades. Colonel Kim Jensen, head of Fighter Wing Skrydstrup, expressed his optimism about the significant impact the new jets will have on Denmark’s air force. “The arrival of more planes at Skrydstrup means we can move from basic training to more advanced scenarios, focusing on what we actually need the F-35 for in the future,” he stated. ✈️ What do World War II airplanes and your company's #data have in common? 📊 🔴 Military personnel would inspect damaged airplanes after each battle to determine which parts were most affected by Nazi Germany's air force gunfire. They created a statistical average, marking with red dots on a diagram the exact locations where the artillery caused the most impacts. ❌ Americans thought reinforcing the most affected areas was the solution. However, they had to interpret it in the exact opposite way from how they had done it. Why? 😮 The study only considered the airplanes that survived the combat, ignoring those that were shot down. This meant that the areas they were reinforcing were the ones that could afford to take hits and still return safely to base. Meanwhile, the points not marked in red were precisely the critical areas that needed reinforcement. The LETHAL was what was not being observed. ☝️ The same thing happens with your data. You might have loads of super useful data to make vital #decisions like this, but if you don't use and analyze them correctly, the same will happen as with the airplanes. Your company will be shot down and won't return to tell the tale. Did you know this story? 👇

We can field all the equipment to Win our future conflicts and wars… but if you can’t send-recieve data/communicate, then we just caused a problem not provided a solution. Being a former SOF Fires Type, and now in the BLOS Satellite Communications world, I have all the question’s: in Precision Fires you need a serious level of mapping and data for the minserated requirements for the munition. How are soldiers on the move accomplishing this? I remember carrying a large terabyte Hd on me with all that mapping data, surely we have equipped these crews (FDCs/Targeting cells) with the appropriate BLOS bandwidth? “Expeditionary Environment Targeting” let’s say…. With the number of Rounds that can be hung in one short time period is there and ability to “keep up” with the precision targeting process. Lets talk BLOS Data requirements!

Thanks to the 53 Florida Municipal Power Agency team members at our plants and office who are veterans (53 out of 197 team members or 27%). We greatly appreciate your service to our country to protect our citizens and provide a better quality of life for so many. It is not surprising that over half our veterans are from the Navy. So many Naval personnel end up working in the power industry given the ships and subs are powered by engines and nuclear steam engines with much applicability to the our natural gas combined cycle power plants. It is worth noting that the energy industry in general has a mission with parallels to the military. When the U.S. has abundant and affordable energy for all, we are protected from other countries which would do the U.S. harm by limiting our energy supply. When the U.S. has an excess low-cost, reliable energy that it can export, it can limit the economic harm rogue energy countries can do in the rest of the world. In a sense, a strong U.S. energy industry limits wars and limits placing personnel in harms way, similar to a strong military. For that we should all be thankful.
Today, FMPA honors and celebrates the veterans who have served in our armed forces, including the 23 veteran service members on our team. Thank you for your service, and thank you for what you bring to our team each day.

D-Day: This week marks the 80th anniversary of the day this incredible effort took place. Roughly 73,000 Allied soldiers were lost over the course of the invasion. “D-Day” as it is known, typically refers to these Normandy landings, but in the larger military context, it refers to the exact time a combat action takes place. D-Day and H-Hour refer to the day and hour a coordinated effort is initiated. In operations, time matters. A massive concerted effort between Allied nations meant every single soldier had to be on time and operating in unison. The tool that helped orchestrate an invasion that shifted the outcome of the war? The humble wristwatch. In the 1940s, watches were hardly considered the luxury accessories they are today. Soldiers wore watches issued to them as a part of the set of tools needed to do a very important job. Read more about the watches worn by soldiers on D-Day here: https://lnkd.in/gN2ECYyb -W.O.E. #watchesofespionage
