Delighted to share my contribution to the new book: "Soziale Nachhaltigkeit – Pflicht oder Kür?". It was a great opportunity to work with Joanna Radeke, director of the ESMT Institute for Sustainable Transformation and director of Sustainability at ESMT Berlin, on our chapter "The Historical Development of the Concept of Sustainability," which dives into the origins of social sustainability and how it has evolved over time. From 19th-century workplace initiatives to today's corporate responsibilities, we examine the lessons history offers for companies striving to balance the needs of shareholders and stakeholders. 💡 This book, presented at the Frankfurt Book Fair, takes a comprehensive and practical look at the importance and implementation of social sustainability in companies. The perspectives of 49 authors, including supervisory board chairpersons, CHROs, institutional investors, trade union representatives, and academics, flow into this anthology and offer valuable insights into corporate practice. It was a pleasure to contribute to this volume and I look forward to your feedback on it. 📖 If you are interested in understanding the roots of sustainability and its relevance today, you can order the book here: https://lnkd.in/eH8Q6vcT @hkp///group #socialsustainability #ESG #sustainability

In collaboration with Alessandra Monaco Consulting and SI FA!, we launched the research project "𝘚𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘐𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦-𝘖𝘶𝘵” and developed a model to measure and compare the perception of all the responders about the 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗼𝗯𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 of their companies. The 𝗽𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗱 and we are now launching the 𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 phase, for which we need the contribution of as many people as possible. It will take you just 10 minutes to answer the questionnaire: https://lnkd.in/dqKKHKbT Do not hesitate to spread the voice: the more you are, the more the methodology can be considered robust and effective. We count on you! At the end of the questionnaire, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 regarding your ranking against other respondents and you will be able to compare yourself with the distribution of our benchmark.

Do you know a business sustainability researcher who effectively communicates their work to broader audiences? Maybe you are one yourself! If so, we want to hear from you for the 2024 ONE-SIM Outreach Award. For sustainability research to have impact, it has to reach the decision-makers who can put it into action. Researchers can take active steps to make this happen, by 'translating" research and sharing it through channels such as NBS, HBR, The Conversation, and more. They can also connect directly with practitioners for conversations about their work -- and throughout the research process. NBS and the Academy of Management ONE and SIM Divisions want to reward these actions. Outreach Award winner(s) will receive a prize of $500 and a plaque at the annual meeting of the Academy of Management. Their research insights and outreach strategy will be featured by NBS and on the Outreach Award website. In addition, the finalists will be invited to a special session at the SIM-ONE Junior Faculty Consortium to talk about their outreach activities. Find more details on the award, including eligibility criteria, here: https://lnkd.in/d_6aypJr #researchimpact #sustainabilityresearch #sustainability #AOM #researchoutreach ONE Division, AOM SIM Division, AOM Maggie M. 🌟 Exciting to see the revival of the Shared Value concept at the Mistra Center for Sustainable Markets (Misum) Forum Day hosted by the Stockholm School of Economics! This time, the conversation highlighted not only the win-wins of combining business strategy with sustainability but also the trade-offs that sometimes require businesses to prioritize areas outside their sustainability focus. As companies undertake double materiality exercises for CSRD implementation, it's clear that certain critical topics, like biodiversity, are being crowded out by others. 🌳 It was inspiring to hear professors Sarah Kaplan and Patrick Bolton discuss the legacy of Shared Value and the work of thought leaders like Michael Porter, Mark Kramer, Marc Pfitzer, Nina Jais, and many others. Their ideas are now being revitalized within the financial materiality framework of the CSRD. 👉 If you are looking to enhance your Shared Value strategy in alignment with financial materiality, we’d love to help, together with our advisor Marc Pfitzer. Deutscher Nachhaltigkeitspreis – WE MADE IT! 😍 We are very honored to share the great news with you: We can now officially call ourselves the winner of the German Sustainability Award for companies (DNP) in the category office supplies. This means that the jury members of the DNP chose our profit-for strategy as a leading example in the sustainable transformation in our industries this year. We strongly believe that the role of companies is undergoing a transformation – only those who really take responsibility for our planet and the well-being of people will have a future. And only a changed economy can help ensure a future for our planet. That’s why we strive for a regenerative way of doing business. With our profit-for strategy, we will prove that environmental and social impact are not harming economic success but will be a prerequisite. We are looking forward to the award ceremony on 28 November where we will receive the prize. A huge thank you to our dedicated team and our partners who have supported us on this journey. Together, we are making a difference, one step at a time 🙏🏻 #sustainability #innovation #DNP #eddinggroup
