International Energy Agency (IEA) has published a report titled "𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀". The following are some of the key points: - The global energy crisis has underscored the need for affordable energy, with consumers spending nearly USD 10 trillion on energy in 2022, significantly impacting the cost of living, particularly for the poor and vulnerable. - The affordability of clean energy transitions is crucial, with misperceptions that current living cost pressures are linked to clean energy, while in reality, they are due to the gas supply crunch. - Lower-income countries and communities often lack access to affordable energy, with 750 million people without electricity and over 2 billion without clean cooking technologies, highlighting the need for inclusive energy transition policies. - Many clean energy technologies, such as utility-scale solar PV and onshore wind, have become more affordable than fossil fuel-based options, with significant lifetime cost savings for consumers. - A clean energy system offers efficiency and cost benefits, with a more electrified, renewables-rich system resulting in lower operational costs and more stable energy prices. - The costs of inaction on climate change are substantial, affecting lives and livelihoods and emphasizing the importance of advancing clean energy to achieve sustainable development goals. - Financing clean energy transitions requires substantial upfront investments, particularly in developing economies, with a need for international efforts to lower financing costs and support vulnerable communities through targeted policies and subsidies. #EnergyCrisis #AffordableEnergy #CleanEnergyTransition #CostOfLiving #FossilFuels #EnergySubsidies #RenewableEnergy #EnergyEquity #EnergyEfficiency #SolarPV #ElectricVehicles #HeatPumps #ClimateAction #SustainableDevelopment #EnergyInvestment https://lnkd.in/eVM-nG7K

A detailed new report from the International Energy Agency (IEA) released yesterday shows how putting the world on track to meet #netzero emissions by 2050 requires additional investment but also reduces the operating costs of the global energy system by more than half over the next decade compared with a trajectory based on today’s policy settings. The net result is a more affordable and fairer energy system for consumers. Realising the gains of #cleanenergy transitions, however, hinges on unlocking higher levels of upfront investment. This is especially the case in emerging and developing economies where clean energy investments are lagging due to real or perceived risks that hinder new projects and access to finance. #Cleantech #RenewableEnergy #sustainability https://lnkd.in/eVM-nG7K
