Do You Have the CPR Training Equipment You Need? In honor of Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness month, let's focus on this public health challenge that claims more than 350,000 lives annually. Check your CPR training inventory and explore the Red Cross Store for essential items like Prestan Female Manikins. Practicing CPR on female manikins is crucial to address the gender disparity in bystander CPR rates. Studies reveal that only 39% of women receive CPR from bystanders in public, compared to 45% of men. By using female manikins, we can normalize giving CPR to women, reduce hesitation, and boost rescuers' confidence. Incorporating female manikins into CPR training helps students understand anatomical differences, improve hand placement, compression depth, and AED pad positioning. This practice enhances the chances that women will receive timely and effective CPR, increasing their survival odds in cardiac emergencies. Check out the Prestan Female Manikins at the Red Cross Store and enhance your CPR training to save more lives. 10% discount coupon Red Cross Store VAEP020625 #CPRTraining #SuddenCardiacArrestAwareness #RedCrossStore #americanredcrosstrainingservices #zoll #avive #lifeguardtraining #watersafety #licensedtrainingproviders #authorizedproviders #instructor #redcross #blackwomenlivesmatter #healthdisparities

What did we learn when introducing a Burns Grab Bag and a Burns Box to our Emergency Department as part of Quality Improvement initiative? The ED Resus Burns Grab Bag and Burns Box together were designed to have the must-have items needed to initiate the first steps in care of a severely burned patient. We have arranged the dedicated kit to COOL, to CLEAN and to DRESS on admission. The test of principle came with the first patient. Things that worked well: 🌟 Resus team were straight on the ball with doing first aid – it was fantastic to see! 🌟 High absorbency disposable pads are a must when doing first aid – we made a mess of that floor, but largely contained it with incopads. 🌟 The large X-Ray Detectable gauze swabs are perfect for cleaning burn wounds. Everyone knew what those are, but initially some concerns were raised that we were using the Thoracotomy Box supplies where these are more commonly known to be kept. All sorted with explanations. Things we learned: 💡 The grab box worked really well. It had everything we needed except a large bin bag – this would be helpful to add as a lot of packaging is discarded during prep. 💡 Nobody seemed to know that we had a fluid warmer cabinet. Plus, some people didn’t have the code to get into it. Once accessed, the warmed saline worked really well for cleaning. ED team needs to know that the warming cabinet exists! 💡 Telemedicine Camera took a while to find, which is not ideal. Luckily this was during the dressings prep time, so it didn’t feel like wasted time. 💡 Burns dressings prep needs a large dressing trolley. As these are used as storage surfaces in ED, it meant time was spent removing a load of kit off them before they could be used. 💡 We needed way more Jelonet wands than originally thought to dress a whole person! We should have 2 boxes of 12 wands to be available across the department. 💡 You need to have a dedicated person to remind the team to take photos after the wounds are cleaned (and most definitely before they are dressed)! It's easy to get caught up in procedure of getting the patient packaged and then realise that you have no images for referral to the specialist service! It is a frustrating delay - having to unwrap your good work in order to take images, and then re-do the dressings. But, as far as the first trial runs go, to be honest, I couldn’t have been more pleased! We learn, we train, we try again. #BeBurnsAware #coolwater20mins #SavingLivesIsNotEnough #ourmarvellousteams #lovemyjob Carole Olding

Appropriate First Aid could be the difference between life and death. The purpose of first aid is to stabilize an injured person so that they may be transported to a hospital. Gaining first aid knowledge allows for the recognition of the different types of medical emergencies and the actions that should be taken subsequently. The ‘First Aid Workshop’ empowered aspiring dental professionals with essential life-saving skills, equipping them to provide immediate care in critical situations. The students of DY Patil University - School Of Dentistry delved into the fundamentals of first aid, from assessing emergencies to administering vital interventions. All students gained knowledge and experience in dressing the wound, applying different types of bandages, splinting the injured body part as well as suturing techniques through hands-on practice and expert-led training. The workshop developed a sense of awareness and responsibility among the students, teaching them the importance of being proactive and capable healthcare providers. #FirstAidWorkshop #MedicalInnovation #medicalsimulation #HealthcareInnovation #MedicalExcellence #LifeSavingSkills #EmpoweringDentalStudents #EmergencyResponseTraining #dypsimlab #dypatiluniversity #dypnavimumbai #dyp
