What actually is UX design, is it different to UI design? When most people hear ‘design’ they hear ‘make it look good’. But what does that even mean? While aesthetics are a part of (visual) design they’re only a fraction of what design actually is. Here’s the first of 7 lessons from the Good Design Crash Course where I define what design actually is. If you have 4 minutes to spare, you might enjoy the video below. (You can watch the other 6 lessons linked from my profile)

30+ layout iterations just to compact two pages of information into one. The printout of the final page was nothing less than proud bliss! As a UX designer, you don’t just design screens. Yesterday, I was briefed to condense two pages of information into one. Initially, it seemed like a straightforward layout restructuring, something that wouldn’t require UX research. However, as I started designing, I realized I didn’t have enough data points to understand what kind of information was essential to be placed first or last. There were many changes until it was finalized and I had many questions about why certain information was included or excluded or had a specific placement. This made me realize how crucial it is to understand the context. Knowing the context for which I’m designing the page for, is vital. It’s important to know what information needs to be communicated, and the context in which it’s being communicated. Only then can I determine if a table needs specific headings or if any other related information is pertinent or not. #UXDesign #UserExperience #InformationDesign

My first-ever UI design project! 😅 The errors in this design are blatantly obvious—back then, I knew nothing about UX, so things like grids, spacing, fonts, and CTAs were all over the placel. I was solely focused on the visual elements without grasping essential UX principles. Looking back now, I realize I never even took the time to review these early projects, which I should have so I could learn from my past mistakes. I’ve learned that to truly develop as a designer, revisiting and analyzing past work is definitely important. Even though I’m still working on mastering UX aspects, it’s clear how much I’ve grown as a designer. I’m now actively working on solidifying my knowledge on UX principles by reading books, watching tutorials, and learning from other designers. If you have any tips for me be it a book or anything please share them with me. Thank you! #UXDesign #DesignGrowth #LearningJourney #UI #DesignTips

Most of the Design case studies Suck! Don't make one until you know the basics of design, I know trying is good but just focusing too much on finishing every part of some silly design process is not good and even after that delivering a shitty design, Not user friendly at all, then your user research, surveys, user interviews all of that doesn't make any difference. I understand how important it is to understand the user and build the UX for an application, But it's equally important as the UI, If your great-looking case study with a great design process is delivering bad UI, It won't work. Remember you are still a designer your first skill should be design basics.
