The most challenging search I've worked on this year is probably not what you'd expect. 5 reasons why .Net developers are so hard to find in South East Asia: 𝟭. 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 → The tech ecosystem in South East Asia is still embryonic (relatively). → That means a high ratio of startups vs corporates / enterprises. → Net adoption heavily leans towards corporates thus talent supply is very low 𝟮. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗽 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁 Modern developers are gravitating towards newer technologies, leaving .NET behind. → Node.js dominates startup environments → React drives frontend → Python rules AI/ML 𝟯. 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹-𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗸 Startups increasingly lean towards more full-stack / language-agnostic engineers → JavaScript skills are non-negotiable → Backend-only roles are declining → Cross-platform expertise is expected 𝟰. 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗴𝗮𝗽 Universities aren't producing enough .NET graduates. • Limited .NET curriculum coverage • Focus on trending technologies • Lack of practical .NET training 𝟱.
