AI tools in healthcare lack proper clinical validation. A recent analysis shows that 43.4% of FDA-authorized AI devices lack public clinical validation data. This raises concerns about the effectiveness and safety of these tools in real-world settings, especially for patient care. Prospective clinical trials, such as randomized controlled trials (RCTs), remain the gold standard for validating medical AI. Yet, only 4.2% of AI devices have undergone RCT validation, prompting a call for stricter validation processes. [Metabolic Tumor Volume in clinical trials, now a reality !] Pixilib is thrilled to announce we performed the first inclusion of patient based on Total Metabolic Tumor Volume. Images were uploaded to the #GaelO platform, received automatic AI segmentation and then reviewed by two physicians experts blinded to each other. AI calculation was done in 5 minutes and both centralized reading was made within the hour after image upload to #GaelO.
