Max Bennett delivered a truly awesome talk at Ai4 about intelligence. I immediately bought his book: https://lnkd.in/gjseTkWk Some memorable takeaways: * Ironically, the human brain is not the best place to start the study of intelligence. But nature offers ample examples to scaffold. * A thorough understanding of intelligence requires an interdisciplinary approach. * Lab rats regret past decisions and imagine or predict the outcome of future decisions. * Goldfish perform better at visual perception tasks than the most advanced CNNs to date. * About a million other awesome things. You should absolutely read the book. The book is outstanding. It covers an impressive scope of research and synthesizes it in an intuitive and appealing way. What a pleasure to see him speak in person.

My humble review of Yuval Noah Harari's new book, "Nexus: A Brief History of Information Networks from the Stone Age to AI." Harari offers deep insights into how information shapes truth and order throughout history, the impact of artificial intelligence, and the ongoing dynamics between democracy and authoritarianism. In my post, I discuss key themes from the book, including: - The evolution of information networks and their dual role in human progress and catastrophe. - Harari's perspective on bureaucracy through the works of Kafka and its relevance today. - The transformative power of documents in history and personal narratives. - The shifting landscapes of political parties and what it means for our future. As with all of Harari's books, I highly recommend it!

Book review of "Future-Fluent" written by Dmitriy Zakharov, using #AI to visialize #foresight #scenarios, a kind of literacy of #futures just as history depicts the past. Dmitriy's values align with Thoth, a balancer who brought literacy to the scribes so they could gain wisdom benefitting civilization. Special consideration for those who have helped Dmitriy form his ideas: Peter Bishop, Andy Hines, Brian David Johnson, and more... (tag your support for Dmitriy, especially if you've also read the book)

Cover for book 3 The Turning Point in Heart of the Algorithm. Book 3 focuses on the theme of transformation—the profound change that occurs when old systems, beliefs, and identities are challenged and redefined. This story delves into the personal and global transformations sparked by Elle’s journey and the challenges posed by Nova, the once-dubbed "Richard Jr." AI. As Elle works to heal Nova and free humanity from fear-driven conflicts, the story underscores the power of love, compassion, and understanding as transformative forces.
