DEI - "A WELL-MEANING FAILURE" Please let's not ignore this bombshell exposé in the NYT (of all places!) about the multi-faceted failings of DEI at the University of Michigan, aptly described as a "well-meaning failure". Though college campuses have harbored some of the worst abuses of DEI programming, bureaucracy, and culture, the reality is that nearly all DEI programs, even when done relatively lightly and thoughtfully (as I believe they were at Google), are doomed to fail and cause more harm than good if they are rooted in an oppressor vs oppressed ideology. I strongly believe in the stated mission of improving (lowercase) diversity, equity, and inclusion, but have seen/heard the execution of DEI be a net negative in nearly every instance, infringing on freedoms and increasing one or more forms of discrimination to try to reduce another. Every DEI leader and org must acknowledge these failings and explain how they will not succumb to them, and how they will remain accountable with checks on the runaway, toxic abuses that seem to be inherent to the movement. If they can't, they should be stripped of all power and responsibility. can’t agree with this, at all. I understand the sentiment, but from my personal experience this is not entirely true

It's almost like socialism. Sounds wonderful in theory but has failed at every implementation
