Still celebrating International Women's Day. One of the major challenges prevalent in women in the corporate world is the Imposter Syndrome. The feeling of inadequacy, or self-doubt even amongst high achieving women. Imposter syndrome can be a real challenge, but there are steps you can take to manage it and overcome its negative effects. Here are some strategies I believe can help: Acknowledge and Convert: Recognize that self-doubt is common, even among successful people. Convert the negative thoughts into more objective self-assessments. Focus on Evidence: Look for concrete evidence that contradicts your imposter feelings. Past accomplishments, positive feedback, or recognition from others can serve as a reality check. Celebrate Wins: Take the time to acknowledge and celebrate your successes, big or small. This helps build confidence and counteracts the negative self-talk. Focus on Growth: View challenges and setbacks as opportunities to learn and improve. Embrace a growth mindset where you see yourself constantly developing your skills. Seek Support: Talk to a trusted friend or mentor. Positive Self-Talk: Challenge negative thoughts and replace them with affirmations that highlight your strengths and abilities. Remember, imposter syndrome doesn't define you.

Celebrating International Women's Day today and maintaining a positive mindset as Women Returner is an empowering idea indeed! Nurturing own’s well-being, I remind myself the following key takeaways: 1. Reflect on Achievements: Take some time to reflect on your personal and professional achievements. Celebrate your strengths and the skills that make you unique. 2. Connect with Other Women: Reach out to friends, family, or mentors who have inspired and supported you. Share your experiences, thoughts, and plans for the future. Connecting with other women can be empowering and uplifting. 3. Self-Care Day: Dedicate a day to self-care. Pamper yourself with activities that bring you joy, such as reading a book, taking your furry for a longer walk, practicing mindfulness, or indulging in your favorite hobby. 4. Set Personal Goals: Use this time to set personal and professional goals. Break them down into smaller, manageable steps. This can help you stay focused and motivated while waiting for the right opportunity. 5. Educational Opportunities: Consider taking online courses or attending webinars to enhance your skills and stay updated in your field. This investment in yourself can improve your employability and confidence. 6. Networking: Even if you're not currently employed, networking is crucial. Struggling means successfully not giving up! Remembering that staying positive during challenging times is a journey, and it's okay to have both good and tough days. Still, celebrating International Women's Day is about recognizing your worth, celebrating your achievements, and looking forward to the opportunities that lie ahead.

Happy International Women’s Day Anytime women celebration and festivity comes around, I find myself deep in thought again and again on the question, “who is a woman?”. If there is one thing I have been able to establish, it is the fact that, You are born a girl, grow into a lady, but it is by action that we ascend into womanhood. Being a woman isn’t a thing that happens by chance. But it is the concious actions towards personal development that makes us a “WOMAN”. In an attempt to grow into womanhood, I made my own long list of who a woman is to me. And this list includes; a. A woman is a lady that has learnt to manage her emotions. There is a stereotype that woman are more prone to be emotionally distraught and it’s true. So in order to be come a woman, a lady must learn to tame her own emotions. Never justify rapid emotional dysfunctionality with hormonal imbalances or nature. The first step towards responsibility is taking charge of your emotions. b. A woman is an all rounder: for you to be a good woman, you need to be excel at every phase of life. Do not progress at work and fail in family or vice versa. A woman is a good sister, friend, daughter, mother, businesswoman, professional, boss, employee, amongst others. Ensure that as far as it relates to you, be a good person. c. A woman is intentional about friendship with other women: contrary to what most people think. I don’t believe men make better friends than women. In my opinion, women make even better friends than men. It just depends on your association and attitude towards the other women. As the frenzy around International Women’s Day subsides, let us all agree to do the right things till next year. Celebrating women for one day is simply not enough. We must do more. ✅ Check your bias We all have unconscious biases. The only way out is to be hyper-aware. To read about it. Even do those mandated trainings HR sets us up for. The only way out is self knowledge and a willingness to learn. 🤝Be an ally Speak up for the women in your team - especially behind closed doors. Champion them. Get them on the right projects. Ensure that there is pay and bonus equity. 📢 Speak out If you see or hear something that is troublesome. Don’t ignore it for politeness sake. You can gently and diplomatically call it out. If you don’t - you become complicit. If you don’t speak out - change wont happen. 🎉Celebrate her wins Use your platform & networks to talk about the amazing work that the women in your team or around you are doing. It has a measurable impact on their chances of succeding. ☺️Be empathetic and more importantly - be compassionate Empathy means “I too see your problem” - it is a good skill to have. What matters even more is to have compassion - as it makes you ask: “How can I help?” 🏃♀️Go beyond lipservice. Ask how you can help and actually do it. The barriers women encounter in their careers often leave them feeling unworthy. These external barriers often have nothing to do with women and everything to do with the way the world is run. Rubbish advice I have received to overcome these barriers: Be yourself Smile more Don’t be sensitive Put others before you The best advice I got came from my own intuition. It told me to love, invest, and believe in myself. You inherently know what works for you and what doesn’t according to your unique circumstances. There is only one YOU. By doing this, I stopped defining my worth by what other people had to say about me or if they were going to invest in me based on what was best for them. So I tell women today: embrace and celebrate yourself without apology. No matter what the world is telling you. Invest in yourself first and the rest will come. Happy International Women’s Day!

An honest moment on International Women’s Day. My history and relationships with women hasn’t always been easy. At best, it has been complicated and at worst, I have had some of my darkest moments from women. Before anyone asks, these women are no longer relevant in my life as they have either passed on or moved out of that space in my life. For me, I can’t celebrate today without acknowledging the men in my life who accepted me for who I am and helped me heal from those traumas and move forward. I also want to celebrate the women who showed me kindness and love and helped me along on my journey to happily existing in those gray spaces and live that balanced life. International Women’s Day to me isn’t about celebrating that random woman who didn’t have an impact on me. To me, that would be disingenuous to claim inspiration for the sake of today. For me, today is about celebrating the women who have helped me on my journey of healing and seeing how wrong I was to be so guarded. Friday was International Women’s Day – a day of celebrating our strengths, success and achievements 🤩 And I hope you took some time to acknowledge your journey, all you have achieved and the obstacles you may have overcome to get to where you are today 💗 My journey to get to where I am today has had many twists and turns and, at times, what has felt like mountains to climb – but with determination, alignment and having a passion about what I do, it was about enjoying the journey and trusting the process ✨ Do you live in the moment, or do you find yourself worrying about the past, fretting about the future and concerned about what others may think of your decisions? There’s a quote about worry being the thief of joy … try to keep this in check and focus on being in the present and tapping into that joy 🙏 Don’t let insecurities, fear and worry stop you doing what you want to do 🥰 And, should you struggle with feeling empowered and as though anxiety is stopping you achieving what you want in life, perhaps you need to take some time for you to pause and reconnect to you? It’s International Women’s Day and I have seen post after post from people and companies celebrating their friends, family, and loved ones. While I love seeing everyone shouting out the people in their lives there is a part of me that loathes these days as well. Personally I struggle with celebrations like today because the other 364 days of the year I feel we revert back to the social norm. Like many people, I have stuggled to feel like I belong in rooms and constantly feel like I need to prove myself to people that know my work. At times, this has made me doubt my knowledge, has held me back from speaking in meetings or applying for jobs. On top of this coming from a mixed background I have also felt like I have never had people to look up to outside on my family. Coming into a corporate space I knew all these thoughts and feelings wouldn’t change overnight but I also didn’t know how much they might grow. I still see too many meetings filled with only men and, to be blunt, only White people. I see companies announcing new CEO’s/Directors/VP’s/Presidents/ect to only be shown the headshot of another man. I see teams boasting about the women on their teams but all of them are White. We need to continue to push intersectional change and hold the people at the top accountable. If you are in a position to hire new talent I urge you to take a hard look at your hiring patterns and make a change. Look into becoming a mentor for people from marginalized backgrounds to help people break into the workforce. Encourage that person on your team who is scared to take the next step forward in their career. Big or small every word and action matters, and as a collective we need to keep fighting so the generations after us don’t need to.

On International Women’s Day, my advice to other companies is to be diligent in identifying, hiring, and mentoring passionate women who operate and get stuff done from a deep-seated value system—implement practices and a system of recognition to make sure you are always looking for and supporting other women leaders or leaders-in-the-wings. Companies that focus on empowering women will be strengthened, invigorated, and emboldened. As a Founder and Engineer, I believe it’s my duty to inspire the women I work with to grapple with their fears and to remove any roadblocks to success. This is my passion and it gives me great satisfaction to help women advance at work while allowing them to take good care of themselves, including their physical and mental health, and their families. In working with many great women throughout my career, I have found that women empathize well and tend to put themselves into the shoes of others, gaining great insights when it comes to how they lead and inspire others. By supporting, enabling, hearing, and understanding women’s needs, you give them confidence to rise to their potential. You get twice as many views, twice as many opinions and more power to execute and get things done.
