The "Advanced Integrated System for Optimizing Water and Nitrogen Fertilizer Use" (Acronym: N-Aqua-fit) project aims to develop an intelligent tool for optimizing irrigation and nitrogen fertilization, promoting sustainable and resilient agriculture in citrus production. Recently selected by Instituto Valenciano de Competitividad e Innovación IVACE +i (Generalitat Valenciana) within the Strategic Cooperation Projects Program, N-Aqua-fit brings together a collaborative team with expertise in agro-engineering and sustainable agricultural development. The project involves members of the Centro de Agroingeniería - IVIA (Grupo de Monitorización y Teledetección - IVIA) and the Center for Sustainable Agriculture Development (CDAS) at the Instituto Valenciano de Investigaciones Agrarias - ivia, along with FERTUSA MARENOSTRUM,SL, AVA-ASAJA (Associació Valenciana d'Agricultors) (Valencian Farmers Association), Riegos Iberia Regaber, Valenciana de Gestión Agraria, and the Universitat de València. We are confident that the outcomes of N-Aqua-fit will enable the sector to progress toward a more economically and environmentally sustainable agriculture.

Better land-use practises in the Cerrado could cut Brazil's emissions by 1.9 Gt. Sustainable intensification of agriculture on productive and degraded land can be achieved through a variety of means: 🌳 Agroforestry. 🚜 Regenerative farming. 🐄 Integrated crop-livestock-forestry (ILPF) systems. 🌱 Pasture recovery and livestock semi-intensification. The process of sustainability intensifying agriculture has already started, with great results. ILPF systems already occupy around 17 million hectares of land in Brazil, and agriculture is also happening on previously degraded land. As a result, the proportion of pasture land in the Cerrado considered highly degraded has dropped from 40% in 2000 to 27% today.
