The results for Giving USA 2024 have been revealed, and while some of the report’s findings shocked us, it made us realize that now more than ever, there is a monumental shift beginning in the foundation of charitable giving across the country. This in-depth analysis highlights significant changes in donor behavior and a heightened importance on technology and donor acquisition. We hope these 11 key takeaways from the report not only offer a comprehensive overview of the current state of philanthropy, but also provide valuable insights for nonprofits and funders looking to navigate and thrive in the current landscape of philanthropy in the US. MacKenzie Scott planned to give 250 nonprofits $1M each last year. She actually gave 279 nonprofits $2M each and 82 nonprofits $1M each. Plan = $250,000,000 Actual = $640,000,000 6,353 organizations applied for the Yield Giving Open Call. I think this further proves when people CAN give more, they will. People are more generous than we might think. Plus, we *must* ask the wealthiest donors for more. What do you take from this? #fundraising #majorgifts #askformore Here's the full list of gifts: https://lnkd.in/gTNdM_WN

Donor-Advised Funds (#DAFs) continue to grow rapidly in the US (and in Canada) - ranging from small to large donor accounts, held at community foundations, intermediaries, financial institutions. Pace of giving has been a focus of study and advocacy. However, what about the bulk of these philanthropic funds (the donor receives a tax receipt on the day the money is contributed to the DAF), held in endowments and investment accounts? Imagine how much bigger the #impact would be if these funds (now $10B+ in Canada) were invested for positive societal outcomes - in addition to the critical role of the grants made from the DAF pools. #impactinvesting #philanthropy

We began giving out equity grants 3 years ago to address the underfunding of BIPOC-led nonprofits. Equity grants are mission-based, unrestricted grants ranging from $10,000 - $15,000 awarded to local nonprofits led by Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color (BIPOC). BIPOC-led nonprofits are often the closest and best suited to address the needs of their community, but also receive only a fraction of the funding available to the nonprofit sector. This gap in funding limits their ability to effectively serve and uplift their communities. Learn more about Impact100 Essex Equity Grants at https://lnkd.in/gU_Kz9QC
