There is nothing that gets me angrier than misinformation and misleading the public. Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA), how about you be honest about your activities and cancellations? The majority were not what you led the public to believe were "ghost colleges"; they were RTOs with what you considered to be a retrospective legislative-based lapsed registration. Talk about manipulating parliament and the media with your numbers all in an effort to justify your increased budget and trying to stay relevant as a regulator - this really gets me going. https://lnkd.in/dRzQBKyG

The Ministry for Regulation has just asked for examples of over-compliance to be sent to them. Here's one: the current version of the Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021 is based on requirements that a large university or ITP might require. These institutions should have these requirements in their own operating policies and not have them imposed by government. Smaller private providers usually need to have senior management engaged. The Code was a response to unethical and unscrupulous operators exploiting international students. These operators have been shut down. NZQA places 95% of PTEs in category 1 or 2, indicating high confidence or confidence in their quality provision. And NZQA states that statutory interventions are now rare. Yet the compliance load on private providers is still excessive and lacks the trust that should be shown as a result of other quality and compliance measures required through NZQA and TEC. The Code of Practice needs a comprehensive review. See the full QTI view here: https://lnkd.in/g6GicHSX

The #EATA Ethical Advisor asked PTSC to carry out an assessment of the validity, and the wider implications, of the previous PTSC decisions regarding the mutual recognition of online TTA exams. PTSC have now concluded their investigations, and taking new information into account, and in respect of the statement of mutual recognition published in 2023, has decided that the requirement to state TTA ITAA after an IBOC online teaching examination is not necessary and is withdrawn with immediate effect. -Sue Eusden and Haseena Abdulla, Cochairs IBOC #itaa #imokyoureok #IBOC

Stop hating on DTT—it’s not the villain in ABA. Coercion is. 🤔😅 Murray Sidman taught us that coercion is never the answer, yet it still creeps into our field. And somehow, DTT has become the scapegoat. But let’s get real: DTT is just a tool. It’s structured, systematic, and when used ethically, it can teach skills that change lives. The problem isn’t the tool—it’s how we use it. 👏🏻 Are we honoring the learner’s autonomy? 👏🏻 Are we teaching meaningful skills, or just demanding compliance? 👏🏻 Are we reinforcing success, or forcing participation? When coercion takes over, DTT becomes harmful. But when we stay true to the principles of choice, reinforcement, and respect, DTT can be a powerful teaching method. 💡 We don’t need to abandon DTT. We need to abandon coercion. Sidman showed us that ethical, compassionate practices lead to real progress—not just compliance. Let’s start using tools like DTT the way they were meant to be used: with care and purpose. What’s your take on DTT in modern ABA? Let’s set the record straight. #ABA #DTT #BehaviorAnalysis #EthicalABA #AutismSupport #PositiveReinforcement #BCBA #LearningThroughChoice #CompassionateABA #AutismAwareness #TeachingTools #BehaviorIntervention

More and more, I have fallen in love with my PRO subscription to Perplexity. It has enabled me to become much more efficient with my time, and tasks that may have been a little onerous previously, have actually become much simpler. An example of this has been the analysis of survey data, especially from our GL Assessment PASS survey. Normally, this would involve several hours of poring over the spreadsheet and report, but the ability of an LLM to summarise and identify the key strengths, and areas for development much more quickly, after removing the names of students for anonymity, enables our pastoral team to cross-reference the generated summary, with the actual report, and move on to having conversations with the students much more quickly and effectively. I was even able to generate a list of suggested questions that they could ask students if they fit a particular profile, based upon the International British School of Bucharest areas of development, according to the survey. It is in areas like this, that LLMs benefit leaders and teachers in schools, (provided we can get our prompts right!) allowing us to spend more time with our students, and increase our impact. #aiineducation #alwayslearning #pastoral #analysingdata #schoolleadership #PASS #GLassessment #pupilvoice
