Don’t Work for Free... We often hear this advice... But for me, that is not true. You should work for free. In my second year, I used to listen to founder podcasts and somehow I started getting interested in marketing, creating content around business on Instagram in the form of carousels. And I kept improving myself in graphic design. Because I surrounded myself with business content, I started following Think School ®, Ganeshprasad S , Parsh Kothari, the greatest channel I have subscribed to until now. At that time, they had 2 Instagram accounts. Then, I went to their social media account, and messaged them. Then, I started working for them for free. Did graphic Designing for 4 months, but every time they posted my designs, they gave credit to me in the caption After that, I found out Finlight , Anmol Sharma was hiring a graphic designer. I messaged them, showed my designs because of the credit THINK SCHOOL gave in their posts. I showed them, and then I worked there for 7 months as a PAID intern. Loved working there. Working for free can work, it can help get testimonials and build your portfolio as well. Acquire some skills that have value in today’s time. Start cold emailing. Don’t expect any reply until you've sent 500 emails or messages. I'm guaranteeing you that if you do it the right way, you will get replies Make Google Sheets track your progress. “I have acquired a skill, when and how do I get jobs?" Read to the end. Navigating through the job market is not a piece of cake. I lied on my first internship In 2020, I got my first social media internship to save up for my first phone. Before COVID, having a smartphone was a luxury for us, and my family couldn't afford it. During those two months, I learned graphic design, video editing, content strategy, and writing, even though I exaggerated on my resume. After six months, they offered me a full-time job, but I wanted to freelance. The real question is: how did I learn all those skills in just two months? It's the "do first, learn later" method. Instead of long tutorials, I tackled tasks step by step, figuring things out as I went. It's all about making things simpler and focusing on real practice.

Countdown to release date: 120 days (Stay tuned) The last couple of months have been an amazing journey and now I'm on the lookout for fellow travellers who'd be willing to join me on a long and rewarding trip. We're looking for highly motivated interns who want to be a part of a rocketship and are looking to up-skill themselves on the job. People who're looking to complete a "Mandatory" college internship, please don't apply. Prefer people who're in their final year/just graduated but kickass outliers are always welcome. All the internships have stipend upto INR 10,000 which depends on the skill-set and type of role ( Full-time, Part-time) 1. Social Media Intern: I'm okay with someone who's not technically very proficient with the tools but you have to be very creative in coming up with content ideas. We need 1-3 interns to begin working with us, by 8 March 2024. Sending out what feels like a thousand applications. Here are some key areas to focus on that can make a real difference: 💚 Build a Strong Portfolio When I first started, my portfolio sucked. Employers can see last-minute college work from a mile away. Your portfolio is your strongest asset. Make sure it showcases a variety of your best work and demonstrates your versatility. Create professional personal projects - even if it's spec work. 💚 Network Relentlessly This is not school. This is the "real world". No one will knock on your door with a golden opportunity. Connecting with professionals in your field can open doors. Attend industry events, join relevant groups, and engage with people on LinkedIn. (The last one is my favorite for curbing social anxiety) 💚 Tailor Your Applications It's a chore but... Customize your resume and cover letter for each position. Highlight the skills and experiences that align with the job you're applying for. 💚 Seek Constructive Feedback You won't know what to improve unless an outside source (that's not your mom) gives their 2 cents. Don’t be afraid to ask for feedback on your work and applications. Use it to refine and improve your approach. I’ve helped three talented creatives land their first roles as a Video Editor, Graphic Designer, and Print Shop Assistant by focusing on these key areas. Can an intern get a full-time offer within their first week? I know it sounds a little crazy. But I just saw it happen. One of our teams hired a graphic designer intern and within the first week, he caught the founder’s eye with an incredible video edit. This is what I realized: 1/ If you're just doing an internship for the resume or certificate, it won't take you far. You need to be genuinely good at what you do. 2/ Even if you're not at the top of your game, be willing to put in the time, listen to feedback, and improve. It’s all about the attitude and hunger to learn. 3/ You can only stand out if you ditch the status quo. Instead of using a canva template, sit with yourself and let the creative juices flow. This is just one example, people are taking standing out to the next level. Copywriters are designing decks for brands they admire, job seekers are sending their resume in a pizza box.
