In case you missed it, a few weeks ago we released our 2023 Eversource Energy Sustainability Report, which summarizes the remarkable efforts across our business to support the clean energy transition while maintaining our focus on the reliable delivery of power to our customers across three states. In 2023, we broke ground on our Cape Cod Solution multiphase transmission program, which enables the interconnection of offshore wind and increases reliability through a single, integrated transmission solution. We also made progress on several projects to upgrade the transmission system in the North Country of New Hampshire to enhance storm resiliency, and we completed of a large suite of Eastern Connecticut Reliability projects that strengthen and stabilize the transmission system. WINNER! Our EcoSite initiative has been chosen as a winner of the International Green Apple Environment Awards 2024 🍏🎉 Following the publication of our first Carbon Management & Reduction Plan in 2020, we sought to reduce our Carbon footprint. Burning fossil fuels to power off-grid compounds and plant produced 40% of our Scope 1 emissions, so by using emerging technologies we could significantly reduce our production of greenhouse gases. Our Plant & Transport team sourced solar powered generators and battery storage units (BSU), low-voltage lighting and HVO fuel, working with our Operations teams to implement these solutions on site. In three years this has taken our GHG output from 1.2 million down to 377,000 kgCO2e. Thanks to our innovative and sustainable suppliers including Think Hire, who provided robust evidence showing that our use of Solartainers at eight sites in 2024 has saved in excess of 169 tonnes of Carbon Dioxide, enough to fill 39 hot air balloons or 17 million footballs! And we’re not keeping the idea to ourselves! We shared the concept with our sister companies at the Renew Holdings plc Safety and Environment Management Group event which led to it being mandated on all compounds and sites across the group. Meanwhile, presentations at working groups across the industry led to The Chevron Group adopting this as best practice. Decarbonizing any business is HARD, but it's especially so for transportation companies. This sector is the second largest contributor of greenhouse gases globally, and first in the United States. That's why it's a proud day for everyone at Lime, as our 2023 carbon inventory report shows a nearly 60% drop in total carbon emissions from our 2019 baseline (❗❗). When we first launched our #RideGreen commitments, setting the audacious goal to be #netzero, we knew we’d have the full Lime team behind us. We just didn’t fully anticipate the results of their collective efforts. Now we have them. 🚛 🏦 ⚡ Scope 1 emissions are down 16.2% driven by our operations fleet electrification and more efficient warehouse operations ☀ ♒ Scope 2 emissions are down 100% from our baseline thanks to our procurement of renewable energy for all facilities. 🛴 🚲 🔋 ⛴ Scope 3 emissions are down 40% for capital goods (our vehicles and batteries) and down 51% for upstream shipping through our investment in hardware design and longer lasting vehicles. And the gap between our business growth and carbon reductions continues to grow: 💹 Year-over-year we grew the business by 32% reaching over $615M in revenue, however, we saw a 16.3% reduction in annual carbon emissions.💥 This didn’t happen by accident. Carbon really is a key business health metric for us. And we're not done yet. We're committed to reaching net zero by 2030 and have already taken steps this year to draw closer to that goal, including transitioning to electric trucks ⚡🚛 for all North American port-to-hub shipping, and exploring low-carbon aluminum⬜ for use in manufacturing our vehicles.
