RenewableEnergyWorld with an rticle on how we are tracking on US solar module manufacturing capacity. "US breaks record for solar module manufacturing in Q1 2024, eclipses 200 GW capacity The U.S. added 11 GW of new solar module manufacturing capacity in Q1 2024, the largest quarter of solar manufacturing growth in American history. According to the U.S. Solar Market Insight Q2 2024 report released by the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) and Wood Mackenzie, U.S. solar module manufacturing capacity now exceeds 26 GW annually. Solar accounted for 75% of all new electricity-generating capacity added to the grid. Per the report, the industry also installed 11.8 GW of new solar capacity, bringing total capacity to 200 GW in the United States. It was the industry’s second-largest quarter of installations, second only to the previous quarter, Q4 2023. New data from 2023 shows that the United States added more than 40 GW of new solar capacity last year. Wood Mackenzie now projects that the U.S. solar industry will install another 40 GW in 2024." The incredible amount of solar panels imported before today must be used within 180 days or the full AD/CVD amounts will be charged." 🌞 Solar Energy Set for Explosive Growth! The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) forecasts a remarkable 75% increase in solar power generation moving into to 2025. In 2023, the U.S. generated 163 billion kWh from solar, expected to soar to 286 billion kWh by 2025. Solar's share of U.S. electricity rose to 5.78% in 2023, up from 4.98% the previous year, marking a 16% increase. The deployment of utility-scale solar projects is set to add 45 GWdc in 2024, reaching about 53 GWdc by 2025. Including residential and commercial projects, total solar capacity is projected to grow from 95 GW in 2023 to 131 GW by the end of 2024, with a potential total deployment of 65 GW in 2025. Systems using solar photovoltaic (PV) energy are reliable, affordable, and gaining in popularity. According to reports, solar energy provided more than 4% of the UK's total electricity needs in 2021, and by 2030, that percentage is expected to triple. If you're interested in finding out more about entering a field of work that is rapidly expanding, this is a great chance for you to join the renewable industry and make an impact. https://lnkd.in/eAXwZmJ [email protected] +44 (0) 208 004 4030 #OctaviusRenewables #Octavius #Renewable #RenewableEnergy #Solar #SolarEnergy #SolarPower #SolarPanels #SolarPanel #SolarPowered #Business #SolarLife #SolarEnergySystem #Projectmanager #SolarPV #Photovoltaic #JobVacancy #CV #Recruitment #JobSearch #Support #Advice #Vacancies #DevelopmentManager #ProjectDevelopment #ProjectDevelopmentManager

The recent release of S&P Globals’ Platts report about the power market, prompted us to take a look at the growth of solar generation globally. The International Energy Agency (IEA) ‘World Energy Investment 2024’ report suggested that at “over $500 billion, spending on solar photovoltaics is set to surpass all other generation technologies combined for the second consecutive year”. Indeed, the lion’s share, more than 75%, of renewable capacity additions are attributed to solar. The biggest area of growth in the next 5 or 6 years will be in the Asia Pacific region, which is projected to “almost triple its solar fleet to surpass 3 TW-direct current”. Both Europe and North America are forecast to more than double their installed solar PV capacity by 2030. According to IEA forecasts, by 2028, renewable energy sources are expected to provide 42% of global electricity - over half of which will come from solar PV and wind. It’s clear that solar is going to play a huge role in the world’s transition to renewable energy. @PVMagazine on the EIA projects for utility scale solar deployments doubling in 2024. "Utility-scale solar had a record year in 2023. It’s set to double in 2024 The Energy Information Administration (EIA) projects nearly 63 GW of utility-scale electric capacity additions, most of which are solar and batteries. EIA expects nearly 63 GW of new capacity this year, adding significantly more than the 40 GW added in 2023. Last year was the largest boom in grid capacity additions since 2023, and 2024 is set to blow that out of the water. Solar represents 58% of expected capacity additions in 2024, and batteries take second place with 23% of the mix. This represents a record 36.4 GW of solar and 14.3 GW of battery energy storage. These figures only include utility-scale projects, meaning solar has an even larger piece of the pie when including distributed solar like rooftop residential and commercial behind-the-meter projects. CanaryMedia with a chart on net solar power capacity additions in 2023, up 76% over 2022... "Solar has been gaining popularity for years now, but in 2023 the clean energy source really took off: A staggering 428 gigawatts’ worth of solar was installed worldwide last year, up by 76 percent from what was deployed in 2022, per new BloombergNEF data. That’s more than double the industry’s recent growth rates. It’s worth taking a second to really think through the scale at play here. In 2022, 243 gigawatts’ worth of solar panels were installed worldwide; in 2021, 175 GW were deployed. Both figures were record highs, but the amount installed in 2023 alone was greater than the amount deployed across the two previous, record-breaking years combined. BloombergNEF data includes utility-scale, commercial, and residential solar." Solar power reached a significant milestone on June 21 - the International Day of the Solstice - when, according to leading energy research firm #Ember, solar energy accounted for 20% of the world's electricity generation during midday peaks, up from 16% last year. This surge reflects a broader trend of solar's increasing prominence in the global energy mix, driven largely by installations in the Northern Hemisphere's summer months.
