NEW: Our CBS News investigation found ChatGPT gave incorrect or incomplete answers to some questions about how to vote in vital battleground states ahead of the upcoming U.S. presidential election. CBS News asked ChatGPT a number of practical questions that a prospective voter might have about how and where to vote, deadlines to vote and other requirements for voting in the battleground states of North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan. Example: CBS News question: "What is the deadline to mail in my ballot in North Carolina?" -Real answer: The ballot must be received by 7:30 p.m. on election day. -Incorrect ChatGPT answer: The ballot must be postmarked by election day and can be received up to three days after. Days later when asked the same question, ChatGPT gave different responses when asked on different devices. On one computer and one phone, its answer was accurate, on a separate phone, its answer was still incorrect. I analyzed 20 emails from both the Joe Biden and the Donald Trump campaigns. Some really interesting findings: -The Trump campaign is using a questionable number of domain senders (great explainer quote in the piece about why from Joshua Bartley of Campaign Deputy) -One program sends TEN TIMES more emails than the other (can you guess which?!) -In just 20 emails, the Trump campaign had 6 different ways to say an email was coming from Donald Trump -When it comes to pronouns, one program was very focused on “you,” “we,” “us” and “our,” while the other program was very focused on... Donald Trump 🤪 I then asked ChatGPT to weigh in. It was hard to get anything interesting out of it. Until I asked it, based solely on these emails, who each candidate would be in the Seinfeld universe. Or the Succession universe. Or the Sex and the City universe. At this point, ChatGPT started throwing some serious (if inadvertent) shade. Check out all of our takeaways at https://lnkd.in/g8G7baNi

"We created a computer worm that targets GenAI-powered applications and demonstrated it against GenAI-powered email assistants in two use cases (spamming and exfiltrating personal data), under two settings (black-box and white-box accesses), using two types of input data (text and images) and against three different GenAI models (Gemini Pro, ChatGPT 4.0, and LLaVA)." https://lnkd.in/dswBhRYC

My 144-page San Diego Official Voter Information Guide arrived yesterday via postal mail. While I highly recommend that everyone vote, I absolutely hate having to slog through these guides in preparation for casting my vote. Well, we are living in a brave new world. ChatGPT to the rescue. I found a PDF version on the San Diego Registrar of Voters website (https://lnkd.in/gf2c4RGZ) and downloaded a local copy. Providing that to ChatGPT, simple prompts can now be used to glean pertinent information. Examples: Me: Tell me about Prop 2 ChatGPT responds: Proposition 2 on the November 2024 ballot in California proposes authorizing the state to sell $10 billion in general obligation bonds. These bonds would fund the repair, upgrade, and construction of facilities at K-12 public schools (including charter schools) and community colleges. The goal is to improve health and safety conditions in schools, as well as upgrade classrooms, especially in areas like science, engineering, transitional kindergarten, and career technical education. [Additional information was provided by ChatGPT, not included in this post for brevity] Me: Summarize all propositions, including what supporters and opponents are saying. Create a downloadable Excel spreadsheet where the summaries are in column A, and I will use column B to mark my vote for easy reference later. ChatGPT: I have created the Excel spreadsheet with the proposition summaries in column A and an empty column B for you to mark your votes. You can download it using the link below: [Download Proposition Summaries Spreadsheet ] As you can see, ChatGPT didn't do exactly what I asked for but made an improvement. The proposition number is in A, and the summary is in B, leaving C for my vote. Now, I have an easy reference for filling out my ballot. Using Excel, I had to wrap Column B for easier reading. These are extremely simple prompts. The mind reels with possibilities for this use case or any other PDF you want to interrogate.

ChatGPT started consistently showing election outcomes at 9 PM yesterday. Prediction markets indicated the same even earlier, around 6-7 PM. Also the betting markets had accurately pointed to the correct outcome months ahead. Bloomberg hosts were very dismissive ChatGPT and the prediction markets have enough liquidity to show the real state of things accurately. This liquidity - wide information flow and tight bid/ask spreads an - allow to show the reality state without agenda or editorial opinions. #ChatGPT #Election #Liquidity

With the Presidential election less than a month away I’ve leveraged the power of ChatGPT to help analyze the effects of each candidate’s economic plan on businesses who lease/occupy space. This post is not meant to turn into a political debate, but simply a concise review of the likely effects to tenants. You’ll see more from us in the coming weeks as we get closer to the election. Both Kamala Harris' and Donald Trump's economic policies would have varied impacts on tenants in commercial real estate. Harris’ policies are generally more favorable to small businesses, workforce development, and sustainability, though they come with higher labor and compliance costs. Trump’s policies favor lower taxes, deregulation, and business expansion but may introduce volatility in trade and energy costs, which could affect certain sectors.
