Today, as the world comes together to celebrate World Health Day, we, at Standard Electro-medical Equipment Company (SEMED), stand in solidarity with the global community, emphasizing the theme: "My Health, My Right." This theme resonates deeply with our core values, as we believe in empowering individuals across the globe with the tools, knowledge, and resources to claim their right to health. Health is not just the absence of illness but a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being. It is a fundamental human right, essential for the realization of other human rights and for living a life of dignity. Unfortunately, access to healthcare remains a challenge for many, influenced by factors such as geographic location, socio-economic status, gender, and ethnicity. At SEMED, we are committed to breaking down these barriers. With our state-of-the-art medical equipment and innovative healthcare solutions, we strive to make healthcare accessible and affordable for all. We believe that by equipping healthcare providers with the right tools, we can ensure that every individual, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to lead a healthy and fulfilling life. Do our health professionals REALLY do it tough? It's easy to point fingers and make assumptions. I had the privilege of delivering a keynote for surgeons and specialists in Auckland as part of a beautiful event at The Northern Club for Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Waitematā. The most enriching part of the evening was sitting alongside these amazing humans and learning about their lives, their struggles, their families, their dreams and the pressure of the current environment. It's evident that they are working so hard to deliver world-class health care, but they are having to put in some HUGE hours. Many of them are truly feeling the pressure with the current state of affairs. I left the evening inspired by these courageous and caring people. We are in good hands folks, really good hands. It was also a great reminder that we all need to show more patience when we are dealing with medical professionals - we just need to take a moment to walk in their shoes to realize how tough it can be. Like you and I, they are doing their best. They want to go to work and do a good job. Then return home to connect with their loved ones. Let's all do our part to show them the respect and appreciation they deserve. I'm the first to admit that it can be frustrating, stressful and annoying when wait times are lengthy. But sitting with these great humans brings a whole new level of connection and compassion to the situation. When you're next in hospital, tell the person who's healing you just how much you appreciate them. Celebrity Speakers New Zealand #HEALTHSYSTEM #SURGEONS #KEYNOTE

‘Why can’t I see my GP?’ is an common refrain heard across the UK. I was curious therefore to read a book with that title written by Ellen Welch published in Feb 24. https://lnkd.in/dGDmpdP5 The book, which is written from the perspective of GPs, documents the increasing systemic issues that have dogged the effectiveness of a health service and general practice built for all. It was surprising to read that there have been issues since the establishment of the NHS in 1948. Those on the frontline try to answer the questions: what’s really going on? Is it better in other countries? What can we do to make it better? But what really struck me was the vast gulf in understanding between the realities of system I was reading about and our current expectations of the service we receive as ‘consumers’. And there’s a lot of pent up anger on all sides. In the UK, the NHS is one of our national ‘holy cows’. We laud and revere it. We talk about protecting it at all costs. This translates into a series of long- held beliefs about the care we can expect (face to face appointments are one example) that the system is no longer able to support. It also translates into strings of political promises that secure our votes but are just not realistic. There is genuine concern right now within the primary care community about a system they feel compromises theirs and our safety. It’s time to listen. As we approach a national election it’s critical that we unmask the reality that sit behind the new initiatives and numbers that will be promised. The introduction of physician associates is one example in which there have been rare mentions of fact the UK has fewer practising doctors per head than most EU countries and the thousands of vacancies that result in patient risk every single day. I also agree with Dr Welch that the future of general practice cannot be a party political issue - we need robust all party debate and long term thinking - but I’d go further. This stakeholder debate must involve us as ‘consumers’ and trigger far more profound consideration about the role we as consumers play in the solution. With new advances in technology and access to wellness strategies, its on each of us to rethink our individual accountability to live healthier lives. Until we do this, I believe the issues in general practice will remain. It's a provocative read - and I'm curious to hear what others think....?

Today is the start of Tradies National Health Month! 👷♀️👷It's a vital initiative run by the Australian Physiotherapy Association to raise awareness about the importance of tradies' health and wellbeing. The stats are alarming: tradies account for 59% of all serious injury/disease claims but make up only 35% of the workforce. That's why it is so important to prioritise health and safety. At Onsite, that's one of our core tenets; we are committed to excellence in Safety Health Environment and Quality (SHEQ) performance. That is, Operation Zero. And as the APA urges, "Work safe and smart for a long, healthy career." 🌍 Applying Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs to Attract International Patients in Healthcare Centers 🧠 In the global healthcare landscape, comprehensively addressing the diverse needs of international patients is paramount for delivering exceptional care. By applying Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, healthcare centers can establish a holistic and empathetic approach, significantly enhancing patient experience and satisfaction. 1.Physiological Needs Ensuring the provision of basic needs such as comfortable accommodations, nutritious meals, and high-quality medical care lays a strong foundation for patient well-being. 2.Safety Needs Creating a safe and secure environment with reliable healthcare services and transparent communication builds trust and confidence among patients. 3.Love and Belonging Promoting a sense of community and emotional support through family-inclusive care plans, patient support groups, and personalized attention from healthcare providers. 4.Esteem Needs Empowering patients by respecting their cultural backgrounds, offering opportunities for feedback, and recognizing their individual achievements in their health journey. 5.Self-Actualization Encouraging patients to pursue personal goals and aspirations, providing resources for holistic healing, and supporting their overall well-being beyond just physical health By addressing these levels of needs, healthcare centers can not only attract more international patients but also ensure they receive holistic, compassionate, and personalized care. #HTDC #HealthTourism #MaslowHierarchy #PatientCare #GlobalHealth #HolisticHealthcare #tourismpsychology
