This week I heard a CEO discussing the happiness tax. You can actually get more productivity out of your employees if they are spending time with the people they love. Doing things that make them happy. Paying your employees fairly is the key to unlocking this.

Can you put a prize tag on business culture? First off what is culture and how can a healthy culture invite better employee moral? Listen its tax season! So what's better than to discuss culture in a CPA firm during the busiest time of year! But this can be applied to any business What do you as a business owner do to make employees feel good about themselves? Well in a Tax Firm - during season in order to help employees work longer hours there is often a system where the firm will buy dinner for staff staying late To me this is a super cheap way of making employees feel cared about And it helps the staff to stay later and get more work done - even one more hour of work is worth it Since covid I think the whole dinner thing might have changed because of so many remote workers - but perhaps that should not change the idea of doing something special for the staff that are working longer hours. Remember Keeping staff and finding good staff is like splitting of the sea in the times of Moses The cost to find staff is huge! Does the 15-20 bucks a night for a few employees really hurt the bank so much to not do it? What does everyone think of this? Get them food? Or just demand them to keep working and not complaining? Comments please and suggestions welcome on how to motivate staff during tax season (busy seasons) #companymoral #workhard #taxseason

Is Overworking Holding You Back from Success? Imagine a world where working less can actually make you more productive. Sounds counterintuitive, right? But at Incite Tax, we’ve figured out that greatness isn’t about cramming in more hours—it’s about working smarter. Our CEO, John Briggs, developed the 3.3 Rule, a game changer for your workday. Instead of powering through 8-hour days, take intentional breaks, focusing on quality over quantity. It might seem backwards, but research shows we’re only productive for about 2 hours and 53 minutes a day. So, for every hour you work, take 30% of that time as a break. At first, it felt strange to take breaks when there’s always so much to do. But since adopting the 3.3 Rule at Incite, we’ve seen a huge jump in productivity. Now, we’re wrapping up our days feeling both accomplished and recharged. When you prioritize your well-being, you can give your best—at work and in life. 💪 Ready to find your balance? Jump in with us and try the 3.3 Rule for better results! https://lnkd.in/gzCqT49e #The33Rule #InciteTax #Productivity #Work #WorkLifeBalance #Burnout #WorkTip #Tips #Working #WorkSmart #TimeManagement #Efficiency #CareerTips

Four day working weeks...yet we need to fund a 'black hole' No tax hikes on 'working people' (Directors don't count as working people apparently as this is where the tax hike will be...) Further stealth tax incoming Genuinely, if people reduce their work/tax output, how are you supposed to increase public sector finances? Now, the four-day workweek isn't anything new, you condense five into four. However, like unlimited holidays it has its downfalls. On those four days, your work/life balance is likely to be non-existent. You'll likely have burnout on certain days and be mentally drained. In certain industries that will be forced to consider it (under possible legislation), it will mean shift patterns and increasing team members and thus reducing the ability to pay competitive wages due to needing 1.2 persons per job rather than 1. The realism is, it would be wonderful to live in a world where all these ideas work, but we aren't quite at Blade Runner levels just yet. And don't get me started on pay-as-you-go road tax...

The gloves are off for councils and the 4-day week as the government signals an end to micro-managing local authorities. South Cambridgeshire took on the government, who tried to stop their 4-day week and issued them with a Best Value notice. The Conservative government put them on the naughty bench. They ignored them due to the benefits they saw in: ✅ staff retention ✅ service delivery ✅ productivity ✅ and £371,500 savings in agency costs alone. Some leaders don't like the idea of people being paid the same and working less, even if they deliver better results. This is a shame, as curiosity is a superpower that often leads to breakthrough moments. 👉 Iceland ======== Iceland’s economy outperforms its European peers, growing by 5% in 2023. Between 2020 and 2022, 51% of workers in the country accepted the offer of shorter working hours with no loss in pay. 👉 Global 4-day week pilots ==================== Numerous global pilots of the four-day week have been conducted in Canada, Ireland, the USA, and the UK, to name just a few. All are independently researched and validated. Results show: ⬆️ staff retention ⬆️ productivity ⬆️ well-being 👉 Atom Bank and many others ======================= Big companies with visionary leaders who understand the importance of a rested, motivated, and engaged workforce have also adopted a shorter working week. Atom, which first piloted a four-day week in 2021, announced its first profit in 2023 and expanded its loan book by 40% in the same year. Finally. A big shout out to Bridget Z D Smith and her team at South Cambridgeshire for showing the leadership required to make this happen. 🙌 —————————————- Two years ago with partnered with Joe O'Connor and Grace Tallon to set up Work Time Reduction. Joe led the global pilots before setting up our Canadian business. Both of them are leading authorities on the subject. Whether in the public or private sector, I would encourage you at least to explore the idea of a shorter working week. And, of course, we'd be happy to talk to you. ❤️
