💡 Optimizing FreeRTOS Timer Management for Embedded Systems 💡 In my recent exploration of FreeRTOS, I uncovered an important detail about using software timers in embedded systems. While working with one-shot timers (pdFALSE), I realized that managing the timer's state before starting it is crucial to avoid unnecessary restarts, especially in multi-tasking environments. 🔍 Without checking whether the timer is already running, continuously starting the timer leads to race conditions and missed callback executions, disrupting the expected flow. By simply tracking whether the timer is active using a flag, I was able to ensure consistent and predictable timer behavior across multiple tasks. 💡 Always check the timer’s state before re-triggering it, especially in real-time systems with concurrent tasks, to avoid potential issues. This discovery helps streamline real-time task management and enhances the reliability of time-based operations in my embedded systems projects! #EmbeddedSystems #FreeRTOS #RealTimeOperatingSystem #FirmwareDevelopment #SoftwareTimers #Multitasking #IoT
