Aggressive #HDEV electrification deadlines + yearslong grid upgrade timelines = a recipe for failed targets. As reported by Canary Media Inc.'s Jeff St. John (link below), efforts to electrify fleet and freight transportation projects along the West Coast are facing delays due to utility projects that stretch well into the next decade. Although legislative adjustments are underway to speed up energization and service upgrades, few in the commercial transportation sector believe these efforts are enough to get HDEV charging infrastructure in the ground as quickly as it is needed. “No one’s going to buy a fancy EV truck if they can’t charge it,” says Sky Stanfield for the Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC). We couldn't agree more and believe that a wide range of charging solutions are key to unlocking fleet electrification in California and beyond. Battery-integrated systems with MegaCharge capabilities will play an important role in this transition and will be available on much quicker timelines than grid upgrades. Reach out to [email protected] to connect with our team about these solutions. #fleets #fleetmanagement #electrictrucks

We hear a version of this story everyday from our customers and partners. Customer: "I want to electrify my vehicle fleet and building, so I need extra power from the utility." Utility: "Great...as long as you're willing to wait a few years!" And most of the time, they're not willing to or can't afford to wait. We consistently see utility limits as a major obstacle to electrification, and that's why we're focused on deploying the most cost-effective, versatile, and reliable behind-the-meter electrification solutions. And not only will this help mitigate utility constraints...it will also lower costs, reduce emissions, and accelerate electrification! Check out the article below and reach out to our team to learn more. #energy #electrification #utilitygrid #gridconstraints #utility #grid #electricvehicles #microgrids

Milence ( Silence but with an M for miles - silent miles!) the company formed by Volvo Group, Traton ( Owners of Scania and MAN) and Daimler, to build around 1700 high powered chargers along the TEN-T European ( and UK) to help kick start the move to electric heavy trucks have just produced a white paper after it first two years of existence. It outlines six key points all based around the grid and planning which it basically says need to get into the 21st century - which I don't think anyone involved in this sector would argue with !!!! The six points are : Transparency in assessing the site and grid capacity Streamlining the application process Proactive grid planning based on market input Revise regulatory frameworks for investments Support renewable energy sources Move towards grid fees based on time and volume Milence

How are CTFA and ELP shaping utility policies to support transportation electrification and manage EV charging loads effectively? The importance of CTFA and ELP's advocacy lies in their efforts to drive utility policy changes crucial for transportation electrification, emphasizing incentives, EV-specific rates, and reforms to accelerate charging infrastructure interconnection. Their focus on managing EV charging loads to avoid grid strain, scheduling during off-peak times or when renewable energy is abundant, not only reduces strain on the grid but also potentially lowers customer bills by spreading out the cost of the grid over higher levels of electricity sales from EV charging. #ElecVulum #HobbsandCo #electricvehicles #evcharger #evcharging #infrastructure

"Two years in: Fleet reflects on operations since implementing EVs" Quality Custom Distribution (QCD) is advancing fleet electrification with 39 Volvo VNR Electric trucks and plans to expand to 45. Since 2021, the company has invested $20 million in EVs, charging infrastructure, and a renewable energy microgrid. Challenges like permitting delays and equipment procurement were addressed through partnerships with InCharge, Scale Microgrids, and Shell Recharge. The EVs have improved driver satisfaction, retention, and safety while efficiently handling regional routes under 100 miles. Beyond electrification, QCD supports sustainability with renewable diesel, solar-powered equipment, and delivery optimizations, reinforcing its commitment to reducing emissions. If you're in #property and care about #emissions and/or #costs, you should read the Green Building Council of Australia's new practical guide for grid-optimised precincts. The dynamics of energy supply and demand are changing fast, so much more is being done and can be done behind-the-meter or through optimising supply and demand locally to reduce the need for new or replacement #distribution #network #infrastructure. Think global, #electrify local. The future really is electric. Proud to announce the release of our practical guide for grid-optimised precincts! Released at #Transform2024, this guide outlines the key steps and principles to deliver new all-electric precincts. It discusses current technologies options, and how to prepare for the transition to electric vehicles (EVs), energy storage and a more dynamic renewable electricity grid. If you are a precinct owner, developer, planner, government official or consulting professional, this guide is for you! Big kudos to Nick Alsop, who led the development of the guide. Thanks to Boundless Earth for sponsoring this guide, and David Clark from Positive Zero for doing the work! Thanks as well to a large number of people, from Dr Gabrielle Kuiper, Karen Greaves, Paul Himberger, Iris Bua, David West, Anthony (Tosh) Szatow, Simon Evans, Gerard Healey, Jane Keddie, Simon Carter and Florian Richard for their time and help in the creation of this guide.
