We couldn't possibly splice together all of the wisdom shared during the Canadian edition of FullyCharged.SHOW & Everything Electric earlier this month, but we're glad the event team got some of the sessions from the Elywhere Giga Theatre stage recorded! This session with The Vancouver Sun's Andrew McCredie is one of them, with the veteran reporter and Robert Llewellyn covering key topics from surging EV adoption in British Columbia to Canadian tariffs on Chinese EVs. Check out their conversation below and stay tuned for any more that make the cut! #electrification #BritishColumbia #everythingelectriccanada

📊 EVs made up 18.1% of the market in 2024—short of the 22% ZEV target. Can the UK catch up as the 2030 ICE ban looms? https://lnkd.in/e8yeRvcp

Completely agree Natasha Mahmoudian and it was a great ChargeUK event showing the great collaboration with government across the industry. However, I did detect the careful subtle wording from several government and PS sources over the past 2 days that the 2030 end date would apply to vehicles 'solely powered by ICE' and would allow 'qualifying electrified vehicles' after this date (did not say 100% or BEV). Also, that the 80% ZEV mandate figure by 2030 would still apply. My prediction is that the 2035 shift to 2030 will probably include the allowance of PHEVs with a minimum electric range (50-60 miles?) to fill the 20% difference from 2030-2035. Given the need to win the 'hearts and minds' battle for public acceptance that EV is not being enforced by government on an unwilling public, think this compromise is not a bad thing. Compromise to get the end goal with less public and industry resistance. Smarter thinking by HMG.
Great event ChargeUK - useful to hear the Minister’s ongoing commitment to EVs, charging and the 2030 phase out

This should give anyone a moment of pause. Why are we pushing an EV agenda that will take away from our energy independence? It's time to take another look at natural gas powered vehicles. Clean burning and plentiful. If forced to buy an EV, will the masses buy $15,000 EVs from China or $30,000 plus vehicles made anywhere else in the world? Not to mention that everyone's batteries use materials sourced from China.

Low cost electric. Doesn’t tow, doesn’t have long range but fulfills most urban needs. Perfect. Don’t try to be something you’re not…priceless. If the goal is green, $100,000 cars isn’t the answer. #automotiveindustry #automotiveaftermarket
