Just a shame that governments haven't done nothing against them allowing now to launch more than 400 rockets only for fun in few days. As always, just money is important for the humanity. Politicians are able to talk a lot, but at the end countries did almost nothing until now to change the situation. Allowing to launching batch of rockets just to make milions with every launch, by giving a shit to serious problems our planet has, is simply not acceptable. Such things should get banned at all, without discussion. https://buff.ly/452T9KV https://buff.ly/3LivKhb https://buff.ly/3LenmiH via https://buff.ly/3T7m8JA Join all channels 🖇🌍 https://buff.ly/48qQ4WC https://buff.ly/49YRtox #elonmusk #spacex #tesla #elonjet #elon #musk #elonmuskfacts #elonmuskbullshit #factcheck #elonmuskpollution #business #rich #richpeople #richlife #richlifestyle #RichFamily #climate #climatechange #changementclimatique #climatique

Did you see the light show last night? Phenomena like the Northern Lights are caused by solar storms. While they can look beautiful, #SpaceWeather events can also have negative effects on #space-based technology and even #CriticalInfrastructure. That's where MITRE comes in. Our experts are working with the Federal Aviation Administration and NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration to better predict and manage the impact of these solar storms. http://spklr.io/6048vZBo

As calls for action increase over the climate impacts of aircraft contrails, airborne research is intensifying with the expansion of two key projects in Europe and the US, reports Tony Harrington for GreenAir News. In Germany, Lufthansa has started converting an Airbus A350-900 for use as a flying research laboratory as part of IAGOS-CARIBIC, a long-running European programme that uses commercial airliners to gather data on air quality for scientific evaluation. The A350 will be equipped with around 20 measuring instruments for a multi-year project beginning late next year to measure trace gases, aerosol and cloud parameters on selected long-haul flights. In the US, engine manufacturer GE Aerospace and NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration have just completed two flights with a Boeing 747 testbed aircraft to record three-dimensional imaging of contrails to better understand how they form and behave in certain conditions. The 747’s emissions were scanned using Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) technology installed on a following aircraft. #sustainableaviation #AviationNonCO2 #contrails #aviationresearch Mark Pilling Grazia Vittadini Arjan Hegeman Chelsey Levingston, APR Joachim Majholm German Aerospace Center (DLR) SATAVIA Adam Durant Conor Farrington Klaas Pel Claudia Huegel Royal Aeronautical Society Ian Poll Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eRwTaqiT

Since 1990, the bottom 50% of the world population has been responsible for only 16% of all emissions growth, whereas the top 1% has been responsible for 23% of the total. While per-capita emissions of the global top 1% increased since 1990, emissions from low- and middle-income groups within rich countries declined. Today I want to draw your attention to another yet important satellite Mission #MERLIN: The French-German MERLIN satellite mission is designed to monitor methane concentration in the atmosphere and is developed by #CNES and the German Space Agency (#DLR). Emissions of methane from permafrost and from the abundant number of wetlands, lakes, and rivers located in arctic and tropic regions are expected to substantially increase this century due to rapid climate warming. Therefore, disentangling natural and anthropogenic methane fluxes is of high scientific priority. The MERLIN mission aims to estimate natural and more diffuse fluxes as well as global-to-regional methane emissions and sinks, and therefore helps to better understand uncertainties on our global methane budget. This is essential to address key scientific issues related to climate change and requires highly accurate measurements of the methane atmospheric column (XCH4). Read more about the mission and don’t miss any updates on the progress of MERLIN on our website at: https:\\merlin-methane.space

Let's know more about JET Streams: The jet stream is a fast-flowing, narrow air current found in the atmosphere, typically in the upper levels of the troposphere. It forms at the boundaries between air masses of differing temperatures, such as the cold polar air and warmer tropical air. Jet streams are most commonly found between 9-16 kilometers (30,000-52,000 feet) above sea level and can span thousands of miles, moving in a generally west-to-east direction. There are two main types of jet streams: 1. **Polar Jet Stream**: Located near the polar regions, this jet stream is stronger and typically faster due to the greater temperature differences between the cold polar air and warmer air from mid-latitudes. The polar jet stream is the most well-known and significantly affects weather patterns in the Northern Hemisphere. 2. **Subtropical Jet Stream**: Found closer to the equator, this jet stream is generally weaker than the polar jet but still influences weather, particularly in the mid-latitudes. ### Key Features of the Jet Stream: - **Speed**: Jet streams can reach speeds of 120-250 mph (200-400 km/h), though their speed varies depending on the season and temperature differences. - **Undulating Path**: Jet streams don't move in a straight line but follow a wavy pattern known as Rossby waves. These undulations can influence the weather by either trapping weather systems in place or helping them move rapidly across regions. - **Seasonal Variation**: Jet streams are typically stronger in the winter months when temperature contrasts between the equator and the poles are more extreme. - **Impact on Weather**: Jet streams steer storm systems and influence temperature patterns. A strong polar jet stream, for example, can pull cold air down from the Arctic, causing cold spells, while its southern dip can bring warmer weather northward. ### Jet Streams and Aviation: - **Flight Efficiency**: Airlines often use the jet stream to reduce flight times when flying eastward, as planes can take advantage of the high-speed winds. However, when flying westward, pilots try to avoid flying directly into it, which can slow down the aircraft and increase fuel consumption. - **Turbulence**: The jet stream is also a common cause of turbulence due to the differing wind speeds at its boundary. The position and strength of jet streams can shift, influencing long-term climate patterns, such as the development of weather phenomena like El Niño or La Niña.

DAMAGE CONTROL Beyond the damage done by aviation’s CO2 emissions, there’s growing concern about the non-CO2 pollution and lasting damage it leaves in its wake. Two established research programmes have just been expanded to better understand and help expedite solutions for the greater environmental consequences of flight, while ensuring that commercial aviation is able to continue its vital delivery of global connectivity. #sustainableaviation #netzero2050 #decarbonisation #lufthansa #geaerospace #nasa #iagos #contrails #cleaneraviation #greenairnews
